Gini | 138 comments Since many of the books on this list are older, and since many of us like to use libraries, I thought I should pass on this information from a librarian friend of mine. Libraries have recently found bed bugs in some books, apparently picked up when the books were lent. No one wants to bring these persistent pests home!

If you are borrowing books, check the edges for dark spots and look through the pages for signs of bug spots. If you find anything suspicious, take it to a librarian. Don't take the chance of taking an infected book home! I have a friend who had to abandon her apartment, get rid of her mattress and all her upholstered furniture, and basically start all over to get rid of bed bugs, despite fumigation. It's worth being cautious.

Cindy (newtomato) | 196 comments I think the New York offices of Penguin had a bed bug infestation recently. Yuk!
