I've totally been out of things for a while and working on top secret projects.

What are some of the best New Weird that you've discovered over the last year?

Doug (Sprocket) | 5 comments Well, not Kracken. I'm struggling to finish that.

Does The Windup Girl count? It's pretty great.

I'm sorry to hear Kracken is difficult to get through. Have you read the City in the City?

I did read Windup Girl. It was worthy of its awards, and hard to categorize.

Doug (Sprocket) | 5 comments Yes, CinC is great and deserves all the good things written about it. I didn't think Kracken knew what it wanted to be, and while there are some great parts, particularly laugh-out-loud ones, I didn't find enough to carry it through to the end.

I was at the World fantasy convention at the end of October and CinC won for best novel. Glad it was deserved as often awards are given for popularity of the writer and not the work, but I really want to check this out now.
