I work in a school too! What did you think of the RTI book? I need to do some studying over summer as well.

Rose (obsessedreader9) | 215 comments Sheila Levine is one of the funniest books ever! I have read it many times over the years, and I still think it's hilarious.

Rose I have to agree with you! I picked it up on Barnes & Noble.com's bargin books because the time period appealed to me! It was well worth it too! I needed something light and funny in these grey days of winter!

I liked it but found it sort of repetitive. What grades do you teach? Our school is trying to develop an RTI system. It is going well in elementary and pretty well for behavioral but I am working in the secondary group (our school is K4-12) and I want to beat my head off a wall. I usually feel like I can read something and get what I am supposed to learn but everytime someone discusses this I second guess myself. The author, Dr. Bender, spoke at our inservice in Aug and then again in Jan. He is very knowledgable and he says that it is difficult to apply RTO in secondary school. The book itself was easy to read though and I thought it made sense (at least at first!!)

I looked at your profile so I would ask stupid questions about what you teach, like I just did for Lindsey! I teach special ed with a concentration in English. I used to teach reading til George Bush siad I wasn't qualified! I loved the middle school reading classes. You can do a lot with that age group.

I guess I didn't ask a stupid question! I looked at your profile but it didn't say what you teach :-) I think my profile is pretyy minmal too...I can't even remember what it says! Ha Ha. I liked Water for Elephants too! What do think the movie will be like?

I actually teach special ed, too. I teach at a private school that specifically caters to children of average or above-average intelligence with specific, communication-based learning disabilities.

.... which means, in a nutshell, we cater to ADD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, etc. It's an interesting job. :)
