Hazel blinked her eyes, adjusting to the dark as she entered an abandoned building. The sounds of small feet pounding on the dusty wooden floor had drawn her in. There were mice in here. Lots of them. It was a good thing, she thought, that rarely any humans lived here. Prey was more plentiful than in the heart of the city. Moon Tribe had it easy when it came to hunting. The instant she set foot in the building, the mice were quiet. She crouched down low, her eyes closed. She breathed slowly and deeply, waiting to hear the slightest movement. After what seemed like a moon, the mice started going around doing their business again. She opened her eyes a bit, leaving a small slit to look out of. Knowing that if she looked straight ahead the mice could see her eyes, even if the rest of her body was hidden by the shadows. Hazel aimed her eyes at the ground, and pointed her ears in the direction of a very close noise. There was a grinding noise, and she knew the mouse was eating a seed of some sort. Her muscles tensed, and she looked straight at the mouse. The instant she saw it, she closed her eyes into slits, hoping the mouse didn't see her. Having the position of the mouse memorized, she pounched. Her claws tore into soft flesh and the mouse didn't have a chance to squeak. She dragged the limp body into the shadows and crouched down again for another chance to pounch.

L (audinosbiitch) Hornet stopped a second for her eyes to adjust to the sudden dark of a shadowy alley. Her ears pricked, hearing the sniffing and rustling of a mouse searching for food. The wind rustled her fur, and she smiled slightly, because the wind was blowing to her, carrying a heavy scent of mouse. Good, it'll never know I'm coming. She thought, dropping into a crouch.
Sneaking up on the mouse was only slightly less easy than catching it. In one pounce, the mouse had barely enough time to squeak, and quietly, before Hornet had killed it. Hornet nearly always used this place, because it was always filled with mice.
She dragged the mouse behind a dumpster, turning back. Hornet had become used to the smell of garbage over the past several months, so now it was just a undersmell, barely noticeable over the mouse.

☆Lily *Aria* Sokai☆ (lilysokai) Everbell was carefully sorting the little amount of medicine she had stored up. "Ohhh, this is bad..." She murred, pawing through it. "I guess I need to go back to that twoleg's Garden, then..." She sighed, ears twitching as the sounds of heavy twoleg footsteps reached her ears. She froze, her breathing shallow, but relaxed as they passed. I'll have to wait until nightfall, and wait for a warrior to escort me...

Hazel quickly caught another mouse, then headed to bring her catch back to camp. She desposited one mouse on the small pile of prey and then padded over to one side to eat her mouse. The mouse tasted fresh and juicy, unlike the garbage in the dumpsters. She was lucky that mice were plentiful, and her Tribe did not have to eat garbage.

☆Lily *Aria* Sokai☆ (lilysokai) Everbell heard light padding, then sighed in relief when she smelled the scent of Hazel. "Hazel?" She called out, poking her head out from the card board box's entrance. "Is that you?" She asked, just to make sure she wasn't getting the wrong cat.

Hazel licked her paw and swiped it across her mouth to get rid of the scraps of mouse stuck on her mouth. A faint sound reached her ears. Everbell was calling to her. "Yes Everbell?" she asked coolly. Her ears twitched irritably. She had first wanted to go patrolling some more after eating, but it would have to wait.

☆Lily *Aria* Sokai☆ (lilysokai) Everbell sighed again, padding from her den. "There was another Catcher around... He didn't come down this alley, but they're on to us." She said, her voice fearful. "Why won't they just leave us alone? We're doing them a favor by catching the mice!"

"Everbell, Everbell." Hazel sighed. She stood up and walked a small circle around the Healer. "You wouldn't understand." she purred. "Humans don't care if we exterminate all the mice in the city. They simply don't care. What the Humans want are to destroy us cats. Crush us." her neck fur bristled. "You see what those Catchers do?" She circled around Everbell again. "They take us to The Pound and keep us in cages. It's cruel. Humans think us alley cats are dirty creatures." her eyes narrowed. "But they don't know the whole truth."

☆Lily *Aria* Sokai☆ (lilysokai) Everbell shrank a bit, her fluffed tail curling around her paws. "...I know that." She said, her voice small. "But there's no way that we could tell them, is there? They don't listen... They talk in that strange tongue... It's not even like we cause any problems, either..." Her ears flattened against her skull, her eyes lowered to the ground.

Hazel stared at Everbell. "Then if there is nothing else you need to say, I'll be leaving now." she didn't want to waste time speaking about the Catchers. They were the least of her problems right now. She needed to find Autumn and talk to her Second about, ah, expanding their territory.

☆Lily *Aria* Sokai☆ (lilysokai) "...Alright." Everbell said hesitantly, before standing up and padding back to her den quietly. Hazel is so scary... I can't even ask her to find a warrior to help me... I'm so weak... She thought, her tail lowered.

message 14: by L (new)

L (audinosbiitch) Hornet caught two more mice, and brought all three back to camp.

☆Lily *Aria* Sokai☆ (lilysokai) Everbell lightly sniffed the air when she heard more footsteps, then sighed. The Catchers are getting ever more persistent... She thought gloomily, lying down on the floor of the box. "It's only just a matter of time..."

Hazel bounded down the dark alleys, constantly scenting the air. Where was her Second? She hissed in frustration and dug her claws deeper into the ground to run faster. She bounded onto the roof of a small building and decided to just look around for a bit until she found Autumn. Scenting the air, she caught a faint trace of the she-cat's scent, but not much to give away where the Second was.

message 17: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Princess bounded over to Everbell's side. "What's going on?" She looked around and kneaded her paws in the dirt. She glanced at all the trash cans around. She heard footsteps and bit her lip. Catchers... She closed her eyes and remebered Lily. She tried to push the thought away, but it kept returning. I will find you Lily. She looked up at Everbell and asked again, prodding, "What is it? What's going on?"

☆Lily *Aria* Sokai☆ (lilysokai) "Not much. The Catchers doing a patrol again." Her tail limply lifted in the direction of their fleeting footsteps. "Luckily, my den has been rather quiet. No sick or hurt cats make my job a lot easier." She sighed.

message 19: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) The healer youngling nodded. "Very. I think our job has been quite easy." Princess sat down and started licking her paws and swiping it over her ear.

message 20: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Autumn limped down the dark alleyway. Stupid nail. She had been hunting when it sunk into her pad. She hurried along the cool ground, keeping her eyes on the ground until she smacked into someone going the other way. She looked up. "Hey, wat-" she hissed halfway, before looking into her leader's bright eyes with a sheepish look. "Sorry, Hazel."

Hazel flinched as someone smacked into her side. "Autumn." she mewed coolly. "Fancy meeting you here." she held her tongue, and waited for her Second to explain where she had been. She studied the she-cat closely, and realized that Autumn was limping and favoring one paw. "You're hurt."

message 22: by Kayla (new)

Kayla "I'm sorry," she apologized, keeping her ears firmly back in submission. "I went hunting early and a nail stuck into my paw. It's still there." Her eyes showed that she was in great pain despite trying not to show it. She didn't want to sound like she was complaining. "Was I needed for something?"

Jennifer | 183 comments Mod
Hazel stared at Autumn for a moment. "Why don't you have your paw fixed first, and then we'll have a little talk." she said coldy, her tone indicating that she didn't like this minor delay. She swished her tail in the direction of Princess and Everbell, indicating that Autumn should go now.

message 24: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Autumn held back the hiss. Honestly. She had been trying to be helpful, but seriously. She hobbled over to Princess and waited for the nail to be taken out of her paw. ((Skipping, since she's not here.)) She then walked back over to Hazel, her eyes narrowed. "Something wrong?" she mewed, her tone like ice.

message 25: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) ((Has the nail been taken out?))

message 26: by Kayla (new)

Kayla ((I went ahead and just said it had because you weren't here at that moment.))

Hazel licked her paw and drew it over her ear. "I've been thinking about expanding our territory." she drew out slowly. "The amount of Catchers has been increasing." If there were more Catchers than usual in Moon Tribe territory, there ought to be way more in the other Tribe's territories. Moon Tribe lived at the edge of the city that had the least civilization, and the other Tribes lived in more active places, which meant more Catchers. "With the Catchers in the way of the other Tribes, we can make a move."

message 28: by Kayla (new)

Kayla "That's true. Now is a good time. The other Tribes won't be expecting it, they'll be caught off-guard." She flicked her tail and yawned.

Jennifer | 183 comments Mod
Hazel wondered why Autumn seemed more tired than usual, with her yawning and all, but didn't care enough to bother asking. "I'm thinking we send a spy into enemy territory, and see how they are faring."

message 30: by Kayla (new)

Kayla "We have to be careful about which cats we send. They will have to be very trustworthy." This was not something they could afford to slip on. "If we scout for a few days it will give us the information we need."

message 31: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Princess itched to volunteer as a spy, but knew she was needed in Moon Tribe. Maybe... Princess stepped toward the two. "I should go. I mean...with whoever you choose. I should go with the other cat to ensure safety from injury or infection."

message 32: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 183 comments Mod
"Trust..." Hazel's voice trailed off. "No cat in our Tribe has my full trust yet... except maybe you, Autumn." She'd send her Second out to spy, but Autumn was needed. "I would go myself, but I suppose I'm needed here."

message 33: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Though she was hardly ever in a good mood, she was touched. She nodded respectfully and flicked her ears back and forth, turning her head to the side when Princess spoke.

Hazel turned her head slowly to face Princess. She blinked once. "You could go, Princess, once I find someone to go with you." Princess, with her soft looks, could easily fool any cat into thinking she was a lost House-cat.

message 35: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Princess nodded. "You know, I actually used to be a house-cat. Me and my sister."

message 36: by Laika (new)

Laika | 104 comments Pewter took a sidelong, curious glance at Princess.

message 37: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Princess looekd back, neeting Pewter's eyes. "Hello?"

message 38: by Laika (new)

Laika | 104 comments "Hi." he smiled a little.

message 39: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Princess smiled. "Do you need anything?"

message 40: by Laika (new)

Laika | 104 comments "No..." Pewter's bushy tail flicked.
"Do you?"

message 41: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) "Nope. I was just talking to Hazel and Autumn." Princess explained.

message 42: by Laika (new)

Laika | 104 comments Pewter nodded slowly and stared off into the distance.

message 43: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Princess cocked her head. "What are you looking at?"

message 44: by Laika (new)

Laika | 104 comments "Oh, nothing in particular." Pewter was in fact visualizing his murdering another cat for land and eating its guts out, but he didn't mention that.

message 45: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Princess shrugged. "Okay."

message 46: by Kayla (last edited Jan 03, 2011 04:14PM) (new)

Kayla Autumn gave a cold stare at Princess. Her eyes turned to ice. She said nothing, simply waited for her leader to find someone else, if she herself wouldn't be going. Her ears swiveled every which way as she surveyed the cats in this Tribe. None of them fit the bill to scout - and the majority were weak and pitiful, despite trying to act tough. There was a difference between having true skill and just being the big bully of the group.

message 47: by Laika (new)

Laika | 104 comments Pewter looked at Autumn.
"What're you doing?" he asked quietly.

message 48: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Autumn flicked her tail and turned her cold stare on him. Her voice turned high like bells, but it was still icy cold and obviously confident and superior. "I should suggest you not speak unless spoken to," she informed him, her voice soft in a dangerous way.

message 49: by Laika (new)

Laika | 104 comments Pewter growled low in his throat.
"I suggest you respect your betters."

message 50: by Kayla (last edited Jan 03, 2011 04:57PM) (new)

Kayla Autumn was taken aback for a moment, and then she raised her haunches from the floor and stalked over to him, taking small steps, her tail swishing through the air. She stopped less than a mouse-length from him and her glare was deadly now. "In case you had forgotten, mongrel," she snarled, her voice deadly soft, "I am your Second. So I suggest you keep your mouth shut and be more polite to your betters, else you might find my claws embedded in your pelt."
