Was the fish and chips good? And I do hope you had a paddle after your after dinner stroll on the promenade.

message 3602: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Fish and chips (with mushy peas) was fantastic (even had a banana and butterscotch nut sundae for dessert). We did sit on the wall and watched the waves and the dive-bombing sea gulls.

Eva King | 1071 comments Happy belated birthday sharon!
That fish and chis sounds good.
On saturday I had a mums night out, went for a nice italian meal and to an irish pub because i was missing magners. On sunday my husband made me pay for having a hangover and we went to the swimming pool with the kids, it was the best cure!

message 3604: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) LOL - oh dear. Thank you Eva. I love Italian. Having that tomorrow night when the girls take me to see Wicked at the theatre after dinner at Zizzi's. Can't wait.

Darkangel wrote: "LOL - oh dear. Thank you Eva.

A girls night out is something I miss, to have one of those I would need friends, real friends not just shallow bystanders. Mrs Robinson doesn't count because if I spent a night alone in her company I would kill her or worse leave her sitting talking to herself while I went home!

Mental note next time Jo is up we will leave Alain and Herve in charge while we go to the bar alone!

Did I imagine it or did Murray beat Federer?

message 3606: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) That sounds like a good idea. I am sure Jo would like some girly time too.

Yeah but she has lots of girly friends, English girly friends at that back in Normandy. My friends back there were all couples or men! And when you become a widow women guard their husbands like the plague. Lol they assume you are on the lookout for their poor useless specimens! I kid you not I was propositioned by several married men all of whom I told to go forth and multiply! One even had the cheek to ask if I could bring a friend as he was into group sex!

I told him thanks, but no thanks, and that he needed therapy, and that sex wasn't a spectator sport!

message 3608: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Oh dear - you can write your own version of Fifty Shades.

you are kidding! I know of men that their wies were sick (one had cancer, the other one in the late stages of MS) and started another relationship. The woman that died with cancer her loving husband married his mistress two months after her death, the other one is still alive...some men are pigs.

message 3610: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Well when you get your book and I come over for the signing - we can have a girly one ;o)

Yes, its already penned in its called Village People and Derby Dave will feature heavily in it! and I can use his nick name as no one will link the book to me!

Yes I know of one or two men that married soon after their sick wives died, horrified their children as you can imagine! Finding out dad had been dipping his wick in another lamp while mother lay dying was an eye opener for them!

And I'm going to hold you to that one I'll bring Jo up too, but not Mrs Robinson, that would be too much!

message 3612: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) I will be there ;o)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Darkangel wrote: "I will be there ;o)"

I am struggling with the chapter, lol I've been writing it so long I've forgotten what number it is! I guess with all the fuzz in my head with the cold I can't think straight!

message 3614: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Get rid of the fuzziness first. Writing the chapter may only make it worse.

Know the feeling well! And you work too! I just put it down to old age! Like I said I'm struggling with chapter 32 and to top it all off I have ideas for new books popping into my head every two minutes but I can't think of anything for a short story for Christmas!

The 20th then, we aren't going away this year all available funds are being channeled into the bottomless pit otherwise known as the house!

We are planning a trip to Bordeaux next year, wine region Alain's favourite and we might see if Jo and Herve want to join us for two weeks we'll hire a big gite and tour the wine caves! And visit the surrounding area of course!

I finished Our Husband it was good I am finishing Fractured by Karin Slaughter too, lol I'm doing what you do reading two at once!

message 3629: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) LOL - it is easily done. The trip to Bordeaux sounds nice. Don't think we will be going away next year, maybe a weekend here and there but nothing too big.

message 3630: by Eva (new)

Eva King | 1071 comments I cant read two books at once, I get so involved when i read a book that I just cant do it! I love Karin Slaughter, kiss cut was really good.

Paella? I made paella on Friday, it's one of my favourites. Will there be Flamenco dancers?

Everything is possible, then you could take back some of our wine lake last time I looked 90 litres per person was the limit!

message 3635: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Monst would love that!

Do you have a cellar at home? If so tell him to start building the wine racks! What we pay 3 to 5 Euros a bottle for here you pay £6 to £10 in England, we looked last year, in horror at the price of a bottle of wine. Thank god we took our own supplies!

message 3637: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) No we don't have a cellar, I think if we did, he would make it my writting den - LOL

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Darkangel wrote: "No we don't have a cellar, I think if we did, he would make it my writting den - LOL"

A pantry under the stairs then. At our house in England we created a cellar out of a covered passageway between the house and the garage. The previous owners had put a door on which we didn't use so we sealed it shut and then kitted half the passage out with wine racks on one side and fitted another door to block it off from the hallway to the garage and the conservatory.

message 3639: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Not sure it would last long enough to put into a pantry - LOL

That would be some serious partying if you could get through 180 litres PDQ! some 235 bottles! lol according to Alain that would be about 3 months with Jo here with us and 6 months on our own! I do hope he was joking!

message 3641: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) This is very true, I will have to tell him to slow down a bit - lol

I imagine during the three weeks Alain is on holiday our wine intake will be more than usual, especially seeing as how Jo is here and we are having a party on the 18th! Ps you have mail chapter 32

That's a surprise considering my heads turned inside out today! I just took a couple of paracetamol and I am going to fetch magnum from the freezer and sit and have a Magnum moment. Sophie's gone to her friends with Alain, discussion on rockwool hardly riveting!
