Stacie Vetsch I have to admit it's tough to put down those new books sometimes. I always end up telling myself I have a couple of bookshelves full of books to read so I don't need anymore. Of course, the library makes it difficult to focus on reading from my bookshelf. I mean, those books do take priority after all :)

Again, I have the same issue..hahah My home collections grows because I keep going back to the library and I never have time for my books at home. It's a bad cycle :)

So glad to hear these great things about this book, I've been looking forward to it for awhile, JUST the title is intriguing!

If you're cheating, then what am I doing? I have picture books on mine, and one wordsearch book! LOL...however, I AM reading War and Peace, so I think that outweighs the baby books, doesn't it? LOL

I think it sure does! I just feel like I'm cruising through this list, but last year I wasn't sure if I would hit 75! I guess it depends on how intriguing the books are. I just hit a streak of good ones this year :) ....I can't even bring myself to pick up any "chunksters" because they intimidate me!

How was that? I am planning to read it with the group read if I can wait until then.

message 161: by Stacie (new)

Stacie Vetsch If you like Jodi Picoult, I think you will like Jennifer Weiner. That is what her style of writing reminded me of. I'm a big fan of Picoult, so this book was right up my alley :) I thought it was a great story, although I got mad at the characters at times and how they reacted to situations. It made me happy, sad, and everything in between.

message 164: by Stacie (new)

Stacie Vetsch If you like all the paranormal stuff...werewolves, shadowhunters, vampires, demons, etc. then you will likely enjoy this series. I thought the first book was pretty good. The story had depth and the characters were easy to like. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

Stacie Vetsch 98. Thirteen Reasons Why Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

This book was AMAZING! It is definitely one that I will never forget. I think no matter what your interests in books are you should read this one. I don't see how it couldn't have an effect on you.

Charleen (charleenlynette) | 1688 comments Sweet! So you're gonna get 200 this year, right? ;)

message 169: by Stacie (new)

Stacie Vetsch I wish! Unfortunately, since I'm starting back up with school in August/September and still hoping to find that full-time job it probably won't happen. I'm going to try, but I'm hoping for 150 :)

I just read Catcher in the Rye too. What did you think of it?

message 179: by Stacie (new)

Stacie Vetsch I really enjoyed it! I was surprised because I haven't been a fan of too many classics, but this one caught my attention. The narrator was kind of strange and a little mental, in my opinion, but it was an interesting book.

message 180: by Charleen (new)

Charleen (charleenlynette) | 1688 comments I'm glad you liked it. Personally I found it kind of boring, a little too "true-to-life" to be entertaining.

I, too, am not a fan of most classics, but I've been trying to read more of them recently, especially ones that I "read" in high school but don't remember at all. Most are not as painful as I remember, but I'd still rather sit down with an action thriller.

Bumped sounds like an interesting concept.

Stacie Vetsch It was interesting. Challenging to understand the excitement girls feel at having babies so young, but in a world in which that's the norm I suppose you get used to it! The story of Melody and Harmony in the book is a good one. These two sisters are connected more than they think and are alike in more than just looks.

Stacie, great review and I really like your blog. Thanks for sharing :)

message 186: by Stacie (new)

Stacie Vetsch Thanks Andrea! I started it mostly just so I could look back at the books I read and remember more about them. There are a lot of books that seem forgettable to me just like there are ones that are quite memorable :)

Joy | 1116 comments Wow! Lots of firsts in Series here!! I have so many series on the go, it's not even funny! And many of them already have several books in the series already been written, so you know my TBR list overfloweth!!

Stacie, I have not read Half-assed yet but I've heard a lot of great things about it. I'm going to have to add it to my list since for some readon I really enjoy this genre of books. I guess it is because I can relate to the strugle of people who want to improve their health/weight. It's inspirational to know that there are so many people fighting the same fight!

message 190: by Stacie (new)

Stacie Vetsch @Joy - I can't tell you how many series I read. I actually just started another one today. It seems like there are just more and more books that are part of a series now then there were before.

@Andrea- Half-Assed is a great book! I laughed at parts and understood exactly what she was going through. I actually went to the doctor last week and found out that I put on quite a bit of weight since switching meds a year ago. I couldn't believe it. That and reading this book have given me the initiative I need to eat less and workout more :)

Stacie, it goes on so easy and comes off so hard! I find reading while on the elliptical to be very nice :) HAhahaha Good luck hunny :)

message 192: by Stacie (new)

Stacie Vetsch Thanks! I've been doing the elliptical and the treadmill...some days I do both and some days I just do one for a longer period of time. I'm just hoping I can stick to it! It's hard when my family and boyfriend aren't very supportive haha...they prefer to eat whatever, whenever, and don't care how much or what it is :)

My husband is supportive, but that doesn't change the fact that he can eat anything and still stay skinny (he's 5'10" and about 125 lbs). He was living in a hotel and eating out for every meal for about 3 months . . . he actually gained 5 lbs, we were both shocked . . . and about a month after moving into our new apartment and eating normal food again it was gone. So, yeah. He doesn't rub my face in it or anything, but it can be frustrating.

message 195: by Stacie (new)

Stacie Vetsch Wow...that would be frustrating. I'm more frustrated when my family actually tries to push me into eating certain foods that I know aren't healthy. I have some willpower, but if you tell me over and over and over again that it's okay to eat...I'll eventually give in. I know I shouldn't, but it's difficult!

Stacie, it is so hard when people around you don't encourage you or even worse encourage you to be bad! I feel your pain as I have a few friends who I splurge when I'm with. I combat this by avoiding going out to eat with them, picking a place where I can get something healthy, or inviting them over and then cooking something that I know that they like and tweaking it to be healthy. My boyfriend and family are super supportive of my healthy lifestyle so I am lucky. My brother and his wife are bodybuilders so I always get a lot of inspiration from them. Stick to what you are doing and try to make sure that you have your own healthy options. We are not always on the same page but with the people we share meals with by sometimes we can even help them once they see how well you are doing.

I try to do the elliptical an hour 5 days a week, but sometimes I break it up with other things. Some weeks are also just better than others and that always makes me feel great, healthy, and productive. The most important thing I have come to find is that I have to make time for myself. It took me 35 years to get to that point...lol

Good luck sweetie!!

message 199: by Stacie (new)

Stacie Vetsch Thanks Andrea! I appreciate the kind words of support :) It's always inspiring to hear someone who is going through what you are and can relate.
