Lisarenee | 7659 comments So for this challenge we're asking you to read a mixture of books that you can pick from with the new year in mind. Sashana & I brainstormed into existence this challenge and we hope you like it.

Try to read books from the following selection or come up with some of your own ideas that somehow fit in with the new year theme. There are 3 different levels. Choose the one you feel comfortable with.

Easy - 3 to 4 books.
Moderate - 5 - 7 books.
Difficult - Read 8+ books.

- Read an equal number of books from Old/Favorite authors and New/Never before read authors.
- Read one or more books with countdown in the title to symbolize the countdown till the New Year.
- Read one or more books with a play list associated with it because Dick Clark or someone else always does a musical countdown of the year's best songs.
- Read one or more books with fireworks on the cover because fireworks usually go off to celebrate the new year.
- Read one or more books with Champagne or other liquor because most people toast to the New Year.
- Read one or more books which celebrate the New Year.
- Read one or more books that have been on your TBR (To Be Read) list for a long time.
- Read one or more books that have a scene in Time Square.

Sans Ooh, I like this. I think I'll take an easy level for books that have been on my TBR list for over two years and they have to be ones I already own. That really narrows it down and I like that. How long do we have to finish this challenge?

message 3: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Sans, this is the challenge for January so January 1, 2011 to January 31, 2011

message 4: by Sans (new)

Sans Awesome. I thought it was, but I just wanted to be sure. Thanks!

message 5: by Sans (last edited Jan 20, 2011 01:00AM) (new)

Sans Easy level, books on TBR shelf. Making it harder on myself by selecting mostly books that aren't romance.

Beneath the Bleeding by Val MacDermid
Pemberley by the Sea by Abigail Reynolds fin 20 Jan
The Philosopher and the Druids by Philip Freeman

Beneath The Bleeding (Tony Hill & Carol Jordan, #5) by Val McDermid Pemberley by the Sea by Abigail Reynolds The Philosopher and the Druids A Journey Among the Ancient Celts by Philip Freeman

Sans I hope you have fun with the challenge, Mandy! I wish I could pick up books and read them without knowing what they're about. I get bored and frustrated too easily to try it though. ^_^
