It's a book about an author who has a G-d like relationship with his characters/creations; the protagonist prays to him in the nude. Read it eons ago so but cannot think of the title. Think he also had a sort of telepathic power, but perhaps I’m merging two of his stories into one.

There's an author Andrew M. Greeley, but I haven't read any of his books, so I don't know if this is the right "Greely"?

Gah, was mixing two different stories from two different authors. The first one is from A.Greely but he second is a Glamorous Powers by Susan Howatch.
