Are you familiar with the historical period covered by the novel? I read up on it a bit while reading the novel, and it's really fascinating.

Coincidentally, according to Wikipedia, today is the anniversary of the start of the An Shi Rebellion described towards the end of the book:

Those articles make a good starting point, if you want to read more about the Tang Dynasty and the major historical figures.

Jon (jonmoss) | 626 comments Thanks for the links, Stefan. I'm unfamiliar with most Chinese history, but I've been so engrossed in the story, I haven't felt the need to research (yet). I will definitely check it out though and thanks for sharing.
