Can I still get in? This will be my first challenge (insert your own challenge virgin joke here)... If I can, then I'll get to work on my list...
I just read through everyone's lists... I'm going to take Dina's "Yay!" as a yes... I'll put my thinking cap on, peruse my bookshelf of TBRs, and be back in a bit!!!

Hey, I just learned a new phrasal verb: show (someone) up. I didn't know that one. Thanks, Danielle. :)

Dina, I still contend that you have better grammar and spelling than half of the Americans I communicate with... written or verbal. You've got nothing to worry about, girl. ;)
LOL, us Brazilians have our lot of crazy sayings too. Here's a funny one (not a phrasal verb, though):
In Portuguese: A vaca foi pro brejo.
Literal translation: The cow went to the swamp. (LOL)
Actual meaning: The shit hit the fan.
ATron wrote: "Dina, I still contend that you have better grammar and spelling than half of the Americans I communicate with... written or verbal. You've got nothing to worry about, girl. ;)"Thanks, ATron. You're biased because you're my friend, LOL.

Wow! That is awesome, Dina. Now I will say that and get some strange looks from people. I court strange looks, by the way. :)I agree with ATron. I am in awe at how good your English is.
Ha! That's great, Dina. I may start using "the cow went to the swamp" as a kid-safe alternative to it's counterpart. :D
As I sat here pondering all things winter, one thought returned to my head over and over... I hate cold!!! So, I'll find some books that fit the bill and post them up later. First, it's off for the very last of my Xmas shopping!
Thanks, Danielle. As my friend, you're biased too. :DI wish I could picture the faces of your family/friends if you started saying "the cow went to the swamp", LOL.
I hate to disappoint, but it wouldn't phase my hubs a bit... I say strange stuff to him ALL the time. ;)

My mom will give me the 'you're weird' look, and my sister will too. But, I am going to try it out tonight. Besides, I owe my sister for always making me look at her surgery incisions (free medical care). I told her that she's on her own if she has anal surgery! :)

ALL THINGS WINTER 2/5Read at least 5 books that I already own, with some sort of winter theme. Snow on the cover, etc... with 2 being books my Secret Santa gave me.
1.Christmas Mischief-read 12/21 -12/23 - 3 Christmas stories. Christmas is in Winter.
2.Naughty and Nice -read 12/21 - 12/22 - 4 Christmas stories. Christmas is in Winter.
3.Thunder and Roses- Secret Santa - has the word "Thunder" in the title. Thunder storms remind me of Winter.
4.Flowers from the Storm - Secret Santa - The word "Storm" is in the title and storms remind me of Winter.
5. Twas The Night - The story takes place during a snow storm while the Santa Brigade travels by bus to homeless shelters giving away presents. The snow storm, the Santas, the goodwill all remind me of winter - read 12/23-12/26
Yeah, and I've been putting off reading it because I don't know what to expect. Is it really super angsty? Does it have a HEA? But my Secret Santa reco'd it and it fits the challenge, so I'm going to go for it!
I like Laura Kinsale, Dhes. I have that one but haven't read it yet. I hear good things about it though
D.G. wrote: "Oh you have Flowers from the Storm in your list, Dhes. That's a great, great book. :)"its a really good book!! check the reviews!!it was one of my gifts as well.
im trying to get through Lessons in French by her.
Alycia wrote: "I like Laura Kinsale, Dhes. I have that one but haven't read it yet. I hear good things about it though"I haven't read anything by her yet. What's her style like?
2/13 Done1. Wild- both stories take place in the mountains of Colorado during the winter
2. Riding Wild- read during my Christmas break because it was better to stay inside reading this one rather than be outside in the cold and rain
if you enjoy angst and flawed heroes then you should give Laura Kinsale a try. she is about heavily emotional plots. but the characters are are well developed. IMHO.if u like Mary Balogh,Judith Ivory the style is pretty close to laura`s. altho Laura`s plots are not very typical which makes the appeal (to me)
