Jessica (thebluestocking) (jessicaesq) Like "The Darling," this story focuses on destructive male/female relationships. The story also reminded me a little of the tone of Joyce Carol Oates's, "Where Are You Going? Where Have You Been?" This creepy man comes out of nowhere and starts lying to this woman. He unravels her, but she allows herself to be unraveled. I think the "thought" moment of the story is whether she wanted to be unraveled. Thoughts?

I agree. This did remind me of the Oates story. I did not like this man or the woman for that matter. She was very weak and let this man totally control her. It was kind of sad.
