TOAFK: Tell me something good

TOFK is just not engaging me. I'm done with Pt 1 and well into Pt 2 and it seems like a good kids story with some imaginative bits and a good message...but not enough to keep me reading. Maybe at 1/4 the length, it would work for me. I like Wm Gibson and Ian Banks and JK Rowling and Pullman and the Artemis Fowl guy. Should I hang in there? If so, what's the payoff?

There is no payoff.

I slogged through it because I'm an idiot who has a compulsion to finish a book, regardless of how bad it gets, and there was no payoff.

Life is too short to spend reading something you don't enjoy. Dump it and find something else to read.

I just couldn't get as excited about it as I do with other books, so I'm eagerly waiting for the next one.
