Karen What can you tell me about "Lucky" by Alice Sebold? I read "The Lovely Bones" and it was good but I was also disappointed in some of it. I've been debating on reading "Lucky" but can't decide so thought I'd ask the group. If you read both, how do you compare the two?

peg (mcicutti) | 52 comments I read both of Sebold's books. I wasn't too fond of The Lovely Bones but I think that Lucky is an exceptional piece. While the whole idea of Sebold's heaven seemed artificial and disturbing, the autobiographical story of Lucky rang true to me and, in my opinion, offers a very convincing description of the experience of a rape victim.

Karen Thanks, Peg!

Diane (dianedj) Karen - I also read Lucky and thought it was very well written. I admire her for being able tell the story too. Like Peg, I preferred it over the Lovely Bones as well.

Karen Thanks, Diane. After what you and Peg both said I'll add it to my reading list. What a great community this is!
