Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments Thanks Holli, I love Sutter interviews, he brings such insight.

message 52: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments You have a lot of strength, Michael. I can't turn back, even if I read spoilers. I have to avoid the thread altogether if I haven't seen the show or new eps yet.

I'm glad you did turn back because the past episode has a lot going on, and it's better to witness it yourself.

message 53: by Eileen (new)

Eileen Last Tuesday's show was tough for me to watch. Even listening in parts was hard. Can't wait to watch next week and see what happens.

message 54: by Michael (new)

Michael | 422 comments I agree, that was a tough episode. Brutal all around.

message 55: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments WTH? I really didn't think Op would do it.

message 56: by Michael (new)

Michael | 422 comments Can I swear here?

Holy (view spoiler)! I figured he had the guts, but I never thought he'd actually do it! This whole season has been filled with stuff I never thought would happen.

That stolen baby factory, was that creepy or what? I wonder if that type of stuff really exists?

message 57: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments Baby factory was F'd up. The Irish knew what happened to Jacks' son, Galen is the one who got him his kid back. He didn't know that's how Jacks would react? I find that hard to believe.

There's all kinds of human trafficking going on and we never think it happens in our country but it's a fact that women and young girls are trafficked in the US, so why not babies? I find it even more believable with the babies since these people truly believe they're doing the right thing bringing more Catholic babies to The Cause.

I know Op has the guts to do it, but when Jacks was pleading with him, I thought he'd back off. But from Opie's POV Jacks has betrayed him too by planning on leaving the Club. It was still surprising. I had to rewind and make sure my eyes saw what I thought they saw.

I doubt Clay is dead, though. Too bad. I don't think the Sons can recover from the rift this is gonna cause. Unless Clay gets ousted from the Club, if he lives.

message 58: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I'm really enjoying this season! There has been so many twists and turns I have no idea where it's going. The way it's going there will be no one left on the show but Gema? She'll have to form a new club. The next 2 shows should be very exciting.

I have to say, I hate Opie's hair. I know he's upset about everything that's going on...please Opie take a shower!

message 59: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments Opie needs a haircut badly. He looks like Bigfoot.

message 60: by Michael (new)

Michael | 422 comments I like Opie's hair but that might be a jealously thing more than anything else!

They have so many different SAMCRO charters that they could bring in new people from those.

message 61: by Jackie (last edited Nov 28, 2011 09:31AM) (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments Michael, Jealous of what?

What I meant about not recovering, I meant our guys and their relationships. Sure bring in new guys but that's just bodies. This charter already has a tear in it, no one is in agreement, people who loved each other and stood by one another are now on opposite sides. Bobby and Clay. Tig and Clay. Opie and Jacks. Their unity is disolving.

message 62: by Michael (new)

Michael | 422 comments Jealous of all that hair!

I get what you're saying now. Could SoA (the show) leave Charming and still hold our interest if the story moved to follow a different charter in a different city? I'm not sure I'd like that because I really like Katey Sagal and the rest of the cast, but it was something I was thinking about.

message 63: by Jackie (last edited Nov 28, 2011 10:43AM) (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments Ewww, but it's nasty hair! I'm sure there's better examples of hair to be jealous of, lol

Personally, I don't think I'd follow it. Unless it took the major players with it. The problem with moving elsewhere or with killing Clay is that Gemma will be a non-person in the club, it's not like member's moms are hanging out regularly. Keeping in mind that Sagal's husband (Otto) wrote this series specifically for her, I don't think Gemma's going anywhere, nor will the club move.

message 64: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I agree, there has to better hair out there.

I can't.see Clay coming back as the leader next year. I think he's upset to many of the club members. And they certainly can't start the show with them all coming out of prison like this season. Maybe Clay will take the fall for the club and go to prison. Can't wait for tomorrow nights show. I want to know who goes flying thru the class window.

message 65: by Michael (new)

Michael | 422 comments I don't know if anyone here has seen The Wire or is planning on it so I don't want to give away any spoilers but they did some shocking casting changes and because the writing and the stories were so good it didn't bother me and the show just continued to get better with each season. I think the writing on SoA is maybe good enough to do the same thing and be able to get away with it.

I can't see Clay taking the fall for anyone! That guy is about one of the most evil characters I've ever seen next to Long Hair in The Cowboys!

message 66: by Eileen (new)

Eileen Michael, I didn't mean Clay would all of a sudden turn into a nice guy and do the right thing by the club. I think maybe the club will turn on him and set him up to take the fall. They're all pretty pissed at him.

I have never seen The Wire and let's hope you're right about SOA.

message 67: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments I like Eileen's idea. It would be worse for Clay to be in prison for life than to kill him. But it would be great satisfaction for the members to kill him. I'm good with either scenario, I just want him gone!

message 68: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments Wow, that was one smooth finale!

message 69: by Michael (new)

Michael | 422 comments I felt a little let down by the finale. I didn't like the red herring that the cartel was working for the CIA which meaned the RICO investigation meant nothing all along. And then the ending confused me when Potter walked into the City Council meeting and dumped all the sex stuff on the table because I didn't remember him having anything to do with Hale. I guess I was just expecting some type of bang up ending.

But I can't be negative about one of my favorite shows and I liked Jax's "meeting" with Clay and how he took over as club president. I loved the very end with Tara came in and stood behind him and then the staredown with Gemma and the fade to the old picture of John Teller and Gemma. I also liked his conversation with Opie and I can't believe Opie will leave the club so I expect him to walk in the door in the first scene of season five.

All in all not my favorite episode of the season but a good one and I think Jackie's description of it being smooth is good.

message 70: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments I agree with everything all of Michael's post. The cartel-CIA arrangement was so unexpected, but it served a purpose: the Irish deal which in turn is keeping Clay alive and in the club.

I love when Jacks stripped Clay of the presidency and the patch.

Op better come back, but I can see his reasoning if not. Clay took everything from him and Jacks lied to him over and over.

What disgusts me is Gemma saying to Jacks, 'Don't leave me'. I despise clingy mothers who cannot let their children go.

Everything fits perfectly into place in the finale, except Gemma. What gonna happen with her?

message 71: by Michael (new)

Michael | 422 comments I think she'll get back together with Clay and spend next season meddling in Tara and Jax's life and try to get them to split up.

message 72: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments Ugh, she's gonna make me hate her if she meddles with J&T. I can see her staying with Clay, except that Jacks threatened him to stay away from her, but she'll cry to Jacks to leave him alone and he will. Besides, without Clay, she's a nobody in the Club.

message 73: by Holli (new)

Holli Not content with simply renewing Sons of Anarchy for a fifth season last fall, FX has just handed Kurt Sutter’s biker drama a sixth season pickup too!

The news, first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, comes just days after Sutter inked a new deal to continue running SOA through a potential (and extremely likely) seventh season, and to develop projects for FX and 20th Century.

SOA currently stands as FX’s most-watched series

message 74: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments WooHoo! You just made my day, Holli!

message 75: by Michael (new)

Michael | 422 comments That's good news but I hope he doesn't change the format of the show now. I like the one season/one storyline format and I hope that continues.

message 76: by Holli (new)

Holli Putting this in spoilers just in case!

(view spoiler)

message 77: by Michael (new)

Michael | 422 comments Holli wrote: "it would be really difficult to bring him on [Sons of Anarchy] and not have him overshadow as Vic Mackey"

I think that's a bit of an insult to Chiklis. Does this mean he can never play another role again because he's that typecast as Vic? I don't think so.

Anyway, this was a good article and thanks for posting it, Holli! I'm really looking forward to SoA again, especially since I'm not enjoying this season of Justified so much.

message 78: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments This made me laugh: Tig...with accidentally killing [Damon Pope]‘s daughter
Accidentally??? Oh, that is so hilarious!

I agree about Opie's reaction and not showing up. It'll make interesting viewing next season, Opie and Jax have always had an easy friendship, now things have changed and I'd like to see how that's gonna go.

I understand what he's saying about Chiklis, I don't think he meant it as an insult. It's more about the viewers seeing him as Vic Mackey.

message 79: by Holli (new)

Holli You're welcome Michael.... and to be quite honest with you I've sorta been not that excited with this season of Justified either. I still think it's great TV but it's not as good of a season as the first two. They need more of Boyd and Raylan together.... I love their scenes!

message 80: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments Holli wrote:They need more of Boyd and Raylan together.
Absolutely! Their complicated relationship makes Justified unique and interesting.

message 81: by Holli (new)

Holli Sons of Anarchy has tapped Harold Perrineau to join the Season 5 cast in the critical role of Damon Pope.

The Lost vet will play the ex-drug kingpin whose daughter was murdered by Tig in the Season 4 finale, creating what series creator Kurt Sutter recently called a “clusterf***” for Jax and SAMCRO.

“I definitely wanted to lay some track for Season 5 and put some complications already on Jax’s shoulder as he’s sitting at the head of the table,” Sutter told TVLine last year. “He’s already got a problem [going into Season 5].”

This marks SOA‘s second major Season 5 hire. Last month, Jimmy Smits was cast in a major season-long arc as Neron “Nero” Padilla, a Latino gangster who becomes an unlikely (and dangerous) mentor for Jax

message 82: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments Jimmy Smits! Oh that just made my day, I love that sexy man!

message 83: by Holli (new)

Holli Question: In honor of Sons of Anarchy‘s much-deserved Critics Choice nominations, treat us to some Season 5 scoop. Please. —Jesse
Ausiello: Things are looking up for Opie. Sorta. You see, he’s getting a new love interest. That’s the good part. Unfortunately, she’s the cousin of San Francisco-based crime boss Henry Lin (who was last seen in Season 3). The rebellious Keiko is looking to break away from her family and run with SAMCRO. Rumor has it Gemma will not be a fan.

Poor Opie. He doesn't have a lot of luck with women and I don't imagine this relationship will work out any better.

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments Short teaser vid: http://www.soafanatic.com/2012/07/son...

I think the new season starts on Sept 4th.

message 86: by Michael (new)

Michael | 422 comments That has to be a dream sequence. They're not going to kill off Jax (especially like that) and I thought Bobby was in prison?

message 87: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments Could be a dream. Even if it's not, Jax ain't dying. There is no SoA without Jax.

message 88: by Holli (new)

Holli Sons of Anarchy | “It’s going to be a very, very uneasy partnership” — that is how Charlie Hunnam sums up the dynamic between Jax and Clay as Season 5 picks up, a short time after SAMCRO’s abrupt change in leadership. “Jax is keeping him around as a matter of necessity, and when that necessity ends… I don’t know what going to happen.” As such, Clay, even as cocksure as he can be, must figure that his days of serving the club in any capacity are numbered, no? “I would imagine that Clay understands that he has a finite amount of time,” Hunnam offers. “And I’m sure he’s going to put that time to very good use, to engineer some reason that he’s essential beyond this period of his actually being essential.”

message 89: by Holli (new)

Holli The Sons of Anarchy closed out the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday afternoon — a guide to TVLine’s in-depth, scoop-filled coverage can be found here – and in addition to revealing roughly seven minutes of Season 5 footage from FX’s biker drama (including a graphic sex scene between Gemma and — gasp! — not Clay), fans were treated to an array of spoilers.

First item of note: Sons of Anarchy Season 5 premieres Tuesday, Sept 11 at 10/9c.

FRESH (AND SEXY!) FOOTAGE | The Con’s final panel of the day kicked off with a sneak peek at Season 5, and here’s a quick recap of what went down: Jax is seen leading the Sons, with his insightful voiceover playing in the background; Tara is taking a seemingly innocent bath — with a gun at her side; Clay is now living alone in a new house and is toting around an oxygen tank; and during a nighttime run with a shipment, the guys are run off the road by Big Bad Damon Pope’s One-Niners and a gunfight ensues. There was also a scene blacked out due to mature content, and this is what it consisted of, per SOA creator Kurt Sutter: “That was my wife [Katey Sagal's Gemma] getting f–ked from behind by [guest star] Jimmy Smits. So, with that little tease, I’d show up for the premiere.”

FLASHBACK FUN | Sutter said that while he’s not big on flashbacks within the series, he has had “discussions with the network about doing a prequel of the first nine [Sons members], where we would see the formation of the club.”

Now, here are a few character-specific teases for Season 5:

JAX | “For me this is really the season about Jax (played by Charlie Hunnam) at the head of that table and what kind of leader he will become,” Sutter teased. That arc also consists of “answering the question: Can you be the leader of an outlaw organization and not become Clay? And if you don’t become Clay, are to subject to [being seen as] weak?” By season’s end, “We’ll really see what kind of leader he’ll become.”

GEMMA AND TARA | In Season 5, these two femme fatales will enjoy a “push-and-pull, mother-daughter relationship,” Sutter shared. “It’s not a linear arc; it changes from episode-to-episode.” Added Sagal: “Gemma’s threatened that Tara might be taking over her position.”

CLAY | “Clay only knows one way, and that is to be on top,” Ron Perlman explained. “He takes a back seat to no one… So, we see him in the beginning of Season 5 and every single thing that he’s worked for in his life has been taken away from him — except his life… But he has to wonder, ‘Why the f–k would you leave me alive? You’ve gotta know I’m coming back.’” Essentially, he said, “I’m getting to play the exact same human being in a completely different set of circumstances.”

TIG | This season, Clay’s former right-hand man is “really off the leash,” Kim Coates teased. “His loyalty to Clay is questionable. He’s totally a wild card now, and the way Kurt has set it up for Tig this year is really, really intense.”

CHIBS | As if there was any question, Tommy Flanagan said that Chibs is “definitely on Jax’s side” now that the prince is King.

OPIE | Sutter shared that Opie’s (Ryan Hurst) Season 5 journey is one of introspection and, ultimately, acceptance. “In essence, the club has to gain his respect back, and at the end of the second episode we’ll begin to see that.”

JUICE | Theo Rossi’s embattled Son will spend the season attempting to figure out “how he’s woven into this new regime” with Jax in charge. “He’s trying to act like everything is OK,” but internally he’s still dealing with the “shame” of his actions last season.

message 91: by Holli (new)

Holli Sons of Anarchy boss Kurt Sutter has enlisted a real Angel — a Hells Angel, more specifically — to play a charter president during Season 5 of the FX hit.

“In episode 509, we meet Quinn, the nomad president we’ve mentioned since Season 1, played by the incredibly substantial Rusty Coones,” Sutter shared on Twitter. (An FX rep confirmed for TVLine the casting of the 6-foot-5, 285-lb. biker/musician.)

The Nomads — or, club members who don’t belong to a specific charter — figure into the coming season when a few from its ranks get voted into the SAMCRO. In fact, another Hells Angel, Chuck Zito (Oz), will recur as one of the new arrivals, Frankie Diamonds.

Coones is the founder of the Orange County chapter of Hells Angels, and has served as president of the motorcycle club’s San Fernando Valley chapter. His heavy-metal band, Attika7, has contributed songs for Sons over the years, and his Illusion Motorsports bike shop has custom-built at last two rides for Sutter.

Earlier this year, Coones appeared on TV with a visit to Discovery Channel’s The Devils Ride.

Season 5 of Sons premieres Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 10/9c

message 92: by Holli (new)

Holli PREVIOUSLY ON... | Just when it looked like Clay would most certainly be offed by one of several scorned Sons, Jax was forced to intervene and keep the old timer alive -- for now -- for the sake of the club. As a result, the onetime prince became king of the Charming charter, with Tara, but not Opie, at his side.

COMING UP NEXT | Harold Perrineau (Lost) and Jimmy Smits (Dexter) are joining the fray, playing the season's Big Bad and Jax's mentor of sorts, respectively. Most importantly, though, expect to see "what kind of leader Jax will become" by season's end, says SOA boss Kurt Sutter. Also on tap for Season 5: Joel McHale! (Enough said, right? Still, here's more: The Community star will drop by as a con man who tangles with Gemma.)

TVLINE BONUS SPOILER | Prepare yourself for a shocking death in the premiere. And by shocking, we mean the grisly nature of the killing more so than the person whose life is extinguished.

RETURN DATE | Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 10/9c (FX)

message 93: by Michael (new)

Michael | 422 comments As far as season premieres go, I have to say that the S5 premiere was off the charts! I have no idea whatsoever where this season is going to end up but I have a feeling there might be fewer SOA members around at the end. These really good dramas have some of the best villains around and each new season I wonder how they can ever get someone to top last season's villain. I never thought they'd have anyone better than Stahl and then Adam Arkin comes along in season two. Then the IRA and Titus Welliver and now an actor who I never particularly liked, Harold Perrineau, but who gave me goosebumps in the premiere.

message 94: by Eileen (new)

Eileen OH NO!!!I forgot all about the premier!!!!

message 95: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments NO! The good thing about FX is that it will reair.

message 96: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I sure hope so, I'm off to check FX now.

message 97: by Jackie (last edited Sep 13, 2012 08:46AM) (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments I found the premiere ep on next week, after the new episode. I would have thought they'd air it sooner than that.

message 98: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I just saw that, too. Very disappointing to know I have to wait. : (

message 100: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4961 comments I can't wait to hear what you think of it, Timothy. Sutter has upped the stakes. Just when I think it can't get any better, it does. I'm still reeling from one scene in particular....and still smiling for another.
