Emma (zeeberg) I've had cancer.

There, I said it. Feels good to let it out tp the world.

Oh, my god, Emma. I didn't know.

*hugs*

How are you now? Is everything okay?

message 3: by Emma (new)

Emma (zeeberg) *Recieves hug gratefully*

I'm good now :) I was diagnosed in Januare 2009, and it was a pretty tough run. 2% survival chance and all. But I pulled trough though, and am now well xD

- Anyway, you had a NDE? Or someone close to you? 'S not about me this group, it's just for people who've been trough tough times like that...

Well, mine is kind of embarrassing. For me, anyway. It was 2005. I was just starting college, and my husband and I had gotten married. Anyway, we moved into this old house as a way to start our new married life together. I thought it would be fun renting a house because it would give us an idea of what it felt like to run a household.

About two months into my first semester, I noticed some red splotches on my arms (kind of like what you’d get if you got too hot or something). The splotches didn’t itch or anything, but they kept getting worse.

Eventually, they had spread all over my body and formed target-like shapes. Still, they didn’t itch, and it wasn’t contagious.

Then my skin started going numb. I couldn’t feel anything and when I went to a doctor, they put me in the hospital. I was there for three days. They called in specialists and everything, but they never figured out what it was. Or if it would come back. Or what affect it would have on me if it did.

I know this isn’t as life-altering as being diagnosed with cancer, and please don’t think I’m trying to say that, but it was scary as hell for me. It was literally one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. I cried for days.

And, on another note, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was in seventh grade. It runs in my family.

Emma (zeeberg) Gah. That story gives me the creeps. Red splotches noone knows what is, but you eventually go numb? Gah. No thank you. Well, I guess you don't know if it's lifethreatening.
^ Wow, that did not come out right. I don't mean that you should go around fearing it, but just that you shouldn't feel ba about talking about it :)

Darn it :( I hope it skips you though, it's the most horrible thing in the world.

Well, like I said; I don't even put it in the same universe as cancer, but it really scared the hell out of me. It's gone now, and hasn't come back for years, but it still scares me to think it might one day.

message 7: by Emma (new)

Emma (zeeberg) I can relate to that. It is scary I must admit, the dot-numbness thing...

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

dot-numbness thing? I think that's what I'll call it from now on.

I usually don't share that story because I'm afraid it will make people think I'm a leper or something. No offense against anyone who is, but I'm not; and waking up every morning with it getting worse and worse was just horrible.

All this makes me sound very vain, but I'm really not. I'm just shy.

Katie (lapiadramtica) | 2 comments I stopped breathing after- jumping off a swing onto a ball bouncing off it and being thrown to the ground. I also almost drowned when i was stuck under water and couldn't get up to air.

Uhmm... I stopped breathing temporarily while choking over however many little candy things I could fit in my mouth.... I think it was 17. Probably doesn't count. But I thought I was gonna die or pass out or something.

Katie (lapiadramtica) | 2 comments I stopped breathing for a really long time and yeah it does count if you damage your back permanatly and stop breathing for a really long time

I was in an accident. I was ridding my bike through an alley at tops speed. Wind in my hair, sunshine down to give that Vegas warmth.
I was going around a corner when it hit me. Litteratly a black sadan with no liscense plate hit me.
I was legally dead for a minute.
