To Julie: Welcome to our group. Thanks for the info about your new book Shunning Sarah. I will certainly put it on my "to be read" list. I will also add Killing Kate. That, too, sounds very interesting.P.S. Speaking of Linda Castillo (I also love her books), I understand she has a new book coming out soon (or maybe it's already out), called Gone Missing.

Gone Missing is actually out, I am actually reading it right now and its great!
Julie,I totally agree with you,and it was a bit different than other books in the Kate Burkholder series because the end didn't really wrap up the story, instead I feel like it will be continued in another installment, or at least I hope so.

Julie, I was able to get an advance copy of "Shunning Sarah" and it really was a book I couldn't put down. I plan on posting a review for it on August 6th.Your writing was gripping. As Sarah's story was revealed I found myself heartbroken for her.
I'm so glad you got an early copy, Brenda...I look forward to your review...your words just now made my heart pang. By the time a book is published, so much time as passed, and an author is having to think about the next book...that we forgot the emotions we've put on paper.
Hi everyone! I joined this group a couple of days ago and I've been lurking your boards, trying to see what should go next on my reading list. But, I figured I should stop creeping around and introduce myself. I'm Brittany. I've a great love for Amish fiction and Christian fiction in general. I get the feeling I might be one of the younger members of the group, so I read quite a bit of the YA fiction that's out and popular right now. Anywho, I hope to get to know lots of friendly people through here and gets some good tips on what to read next.
And, Julie, it's an amazing coincidence to see you on here. I entered the giveaway for Shunning Sarah and was one of the winners. I hadn't read any other Riley Spartz books beforehand, but I certainly will be delving further into them! You have quiet a knack for suspenseful storytelling!

Welcome Brittany to the group! I hope that we can give you some great reading ideas. We will be starting our nominations tomorrow for September's group read so please feel free to nominate something from your to-read pile! There will be threads posted in the morning. If you are in your avatar picture, I'd say that you are right in the middle of age group. As one of the more vocal and active members and moderator, I am 39 (okay, almost 40 in November!) LOL! :) All ages are welcome anyways!
If you have any questions about the group, or Amish fiction in general, don't hesitate to ask! :)
Thanks, Diane! I certainly feel welcome. :) I'll be sure to rummage through my to-read pile and help with the suggestions. For the group reads, do the books have to be strictly Amish based, or can it be any type of book involving the Amish, like mystery or suspence based? Is there a thread that lists what our group has already read? (I want to make sure I don't look stupid and post a novel that's already been discussed. =P)
And yes, that's me in the avatar picture, with Karen Kingsbury (*Squee* She's one of my favorite Christian based authors). I'm twenty-two right now, just finished college, trying to find a good job. The general transition phase from pseudo-adult to adult, lol. But I'm excited to be a part of the group neverlesthess. :)

Cool, I'd love to meet Karen. She's one of my faves too! I met Collen Coble in March at the Christian Books Distributors warehouse sale. Here's where you can see our past Amish group read:

The only rule is you cannot read the same author in a six month period. Plus it must be the first of a series unless we've already read it.
Here's the past group reads for Christian fiction:

In this group, we pick a theme for the month and chose books based on that.
I can't wait to see your selections!

This is one of the things, your publisher tells you they are arranging a giveaway, but you always wonder....so nice to hear from real people that they followed through and got the books in their hands. :)
Welcome to all our new members! We love having both readers and authors join in our conversations :)Brittany: You probably are one of our younger members, but you're among good company - I don't turn 21 until September, and I co-moderate with Diane! :) It's great to know that other young women like Amish fiction as much as I do!
Julie wrote: "Great how we can discuss this without spoiling it, huh Brenda...."Not sure because we don't want to ruin it for anyone, but i would love to discuss this book!
Brenda wrote: "Julie wrote: "Great how we can discuss this without spoiling it, huh Brenda...."Not sure because we don't want to ruin it for anyone, but i would love to discuss this book!"
If you want to discuss a specific book, you could always start a thread with the book's title in it and put ***SPOILER ZONE*** in the title to make sure everyone who hasn't read the book avoids the thread?
Hi, I'm Michaela, and I love Beverly Lewis' Amish fiction books, and am extremely excited to join this group! I hope that I can find out about ore Amish fiction books!
Michaela wrote: "Hi, I'm Michaela, and I love Beverly Lewis' Amish fiction books, and am extremely excited to join this group! There's just one problem, where do you begin?
Hello. My name is Vilija. I was born in Lithuania but have moved to Ireland a long time ago and that is where I live. I am 50, was a nurse my whole working-life but now I am retired for health reasons. I have two grown up daughters who are both married to good Irish Catholic men. I am a granny and I love my grandson and taking care of him. I read Amish fiction, romances and good Christian fiction without the dirty talk. For egs I spanked my daughters when they were teens for cussing and smoking and they have turned out well. I can do without all the modern books with their sex and what have you. You can call me old-fashioned! I am glad that there are likeminded people who love to read the same books.
Hi everyone! I am an avid christian fiction reader who has just recently stumbled upon Amish fiction and LOVE it! I have an i-pad, kindle, and also read hard bound books. I also read non-Christian books (for a lack of better description) as long as they do not have profanity and/or explicit sexual scenes (those aren't the easiest books to find). I'm always looking for book suggestions!I'm a 35-year-old wife and mother of three children (teenagers to 10 years old).
Hi Beth. Welcome to the group. Your reading preferences sound very much like mine. You'll like all of the suggestions and reviews you'll find here on this site and in this group. Happy reading!
Hey there Beth -- welcome to our little corner of the world. There are plenty of books for you to pick from in this genre. We'll be glad to five you recommendations on what to read next if you want!
Thanks Barbara! I'm going to start with the September book suggested in this group and go from there! :)

I am also a huge fan of iodine picoult books as well. look forward to seeing everyones recommendations and picking my next book lol :)
I've been a Goodreads member for a couple of years, but am just now getting more involved. The more I explore, the more neat things I discover. I enjoy Christian fiction - especially historical, Amish, contemporary and biblical genres. I hope to join some group reads if I have time.
Welcome Beth and Ashley to our group! It sounds like you will fit in perfectly with your reading choices! Please feel free to join in with the group. I am always free to answer andy questions that may come up as well.
Welcome to our little group Beth & Carole! Jump in anytime and share your thoughts with us. I hope we make you feel like one of the family.
Thank you all for the warm welcome! Beth, I should probably welcome you also, as you've only been here a couple of days longer than me.
I'm around! :) Work just keeps me so busy that sometimes I just don't want to touch a computer after work. :(
Thanks for the welcome, Camille. I can certainly understand not wanting to touch a computer after long hours of work. Although I'm retired, I'm busier than I could ever have imagined, so I often have to let the "fun" computer things go for a while.
Camille wrote: "I'm around! :) Work just keeps me so busy that sometimes I just don't want to touch a computer after work. :("As an accountnat, I totally understand! But it is nice to see you here! :D
name is Jessica. I am so excited to join this group. Started reading amish books last year when Cindy Woodsmall was suggested. Can def count on them to be Christian which is the biggest plus. Live right outside of DC. Hoping to meet people and be able to share when I can.
I' m new here since I just got a nook tablet. Love my nook but was wondering if anyone knows a good website for free nook books or pdfbooks. I am an avid Amish book reader. I 20 hard copies checked outof my library right now and I' m reading Wanda Brunstetter' s The Brides of Webster County series right now.
Marcy, one of the sources I use is http://blog.booksontheknob.org/. She lists free and discounted books of all types, including Christian fiction, for both Nook and Kindle. You can subscribe to the blog. For the Kindle, which I have, there are three other excellent sources. I'll list them for you because prices are usually the same for both Kindle and Nook.

http://www.inspiredreads.com/
http://www.ereaderiq.com/pricewatch/
You can subscribe to all of these sites. Ereaderiq is my favorite source because, in addition to receiving notifications of free books, I can also list books to be notified when the price drops to whatever level I set. Again, this is a Kindle website, but the prices are usually the same for Nook. Hope this helps, Marcy!
Hello. My name is Angie. I recently bought myself a nook tablet and this app was on it . I decided to check it out. So far i like it. Hope everyone has a great day.
Welcome, Angie! I assume your new to Goodreads? You'll grow to love the site! It's a great way to meet people, new books, and talk about your favorites. I hope you like the group here, too. We're all really friendly. ^.^
Hello Everyone! My name is Emily. I have been reading Amish fiction since I was little and something about it fascinates me. I am so pleased to have found this group, now I can find more Amish titles from what everyone else is reading. I hope to be able to contribute to discussions.
Is the group still functioning? I just read about it on Facebook and thought it would be a good one to join. I love reading Amish fiction.

Thanks for the welcome, Barbara Ann. I just learned this morning that my previous book, KILLING KATE, won the Daphne du Maurier award for Mainstream Mystery/Suspense. But I'm sort of just babbling here because that book is about angels, not Amish. In it a killer draws chalk outlines shaped like angels around the bodies of his victims. The book explores the history of angels in world religions and centers on a real life Black Angel statue in Iowa City. SHUNNING SARAH (coming August 7) is my first Amish mystery. It's more edgy than Beverly Lewis but not as graphic as Linda Castillo. My books don't contain explicit sex, violence or language.
