Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies!
Hi Everyone! I'm just new to Goodreads, and so far I like what I see!! Especially in this group!! I've been an avid reader of all types of christian fiction but especially love the Amish ones when I do get them. I tend to borrow from our local library or find them second hand. I'm still navigating my way around the group, so any pointers would be great. As yet, no e-reader of any type, still love my 'real' books!
Hi everyone! I"m new to Goodreads and this group. But I love christian fiction and in particular Amish fiction. I read 'real' books as I don't have anything electronic yet. I suppose the day will come! I rarely buy new, but borrow from our local library or buy second hand... Very new to this so any pointers would be great!!
Welcome to our group. I, too, have not moved into the world of Kindle and e-books. I guess that is the wave of the future, but I prefer to stick to "real" books. Our local library has e-books available, but I haven't investigated that option at all. (In fact, I have given up even trying to keep up with all of the new technology. I do have a cell phone that I barely know how to use, but that is the extent of my entrance into 21st century technology. I have only grudgingly moved into Windows from DOS, WordPerfect, and Lotus--before the days of the Internet.)
Hello everyone! I just joined the Fans of Amish Fiction today. I really love reading Amish books, they are my guilty pleasure! I did not realize how many people love to read Amish Fiction as much as I do, everyone that I know think I'm weird! My current favorite Amish author is Wanda E. Brunstetter, I am obsessed! I am currently reading her Sister of Holmes County series. I also do not read on eBooks or buy books. I get all of my books from the library! :) I can not wait to start discussing in this group!
Wow, welcome Esther, Carolyn and Samatha! Please feel free to jump in and get to know the group! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
Since you are all "paper" book readers, you may want to check out these threads for doing reviews that mail out free paper books:

I live small town. thank you Diane U for the list i went to Net Galley figured out quick wasnt going to b able to do much there. LOL!! But i will check out these sites.
Hi, I just joined this group--though not sure how active my 2 under 2 will let me be :). I recently got a Kindle and downloaded Suzanne Woods Fisher's book The Waiting...LOVED IT! I have always been very interested in the Amish way of life and their religious ideals and this has just been an extension of that. I have to say that I'm working through The Secret by Beverly Lewis, but I'm not really very impressed with her writing style. Maybe I'll get used to it over time.
Anyway, so glad to find a group that likes the same books as me :) Hope to get to the monthly reading books, but will just have to see. Thanks for the great group and book suggestions!
welcome Brianah, it is good 2 c what everyone is reading and there thoughts. hope to c u on here soon!

I would highly recommend the Daughters of Lancaster County series!!!
Since you have a kindle, be sure to check out this thread where we post kindle freebies, Amish and Christian fiction, as they are available:
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/4...
Also, if you have a blog, or have been wanting to start one, be sure to check out Net Galley. They have Amish and Christian fiction books for free in exchange for a review. Here's the thread about it:

Enjoy and happy reading!

Hello everyone! I'm Elizabeth from PA. I'm new to Christian & Amish fiction, but have been enjoying the books very much. I purchased a Kindle several weeks ago and just LOVE it. I'm going to check out the thread that you have a couple posts up, Diane.
Thank you all...I appreciate it!
Hi My name is Sara and I am a new member of this group. I'm a born and raised Kansasan transplant to deep south Texas. Please add me as a friend, I'd appreciate it. I am trying to build up my friend's list. I just found Amish books and Christian Fiction like Love Inspired, Love Inspired Suspense. I'm not sure I fit in here because I own a Nook and you all talk about Kindle's. Is there a way I can get these books too? Enjoyed reading about all the new books I can read. Thanks for your help and God bless you all!
welcome Sara, Yes u fit! u can can get many different titles and good books here. I dont own a Kindel or Nook but i am trying to learn my ereader. Welcome!!

Unfortunately, the Nook is supported by Barnes & Noble and the Kindle is supported by Amazon and they are not compatible with each other.
Please feel free to join in anywhere, including nominating some group reads for July for Amish and Christian fiction. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
Diane
P.S. I added you as a friend!!!
I think Sara, for your information, that a lot of times when we discuss a book for free for Kindles, it is also free through B&N for Nook, so I would check and you can probably get a lot (if not all) of the same books we talk about getting on Kindle for free. :)
Hello, my name is Beth. I am fairly new to goodreads. I found this group the other evening & decided to join.I grew up with the love for reading (even in the car) and continue to read into adulthood. I read a lot of books but especially enjoy Christian fiction. I read my first Amish book this past Dec (A plain & Simple Christmas) and was hooked).
We get a lot of our books @ a local used bookstore but yesterday while selling some of our curricula @ a curriculum fair I was able to find an awesome deal. I found three of Beverly Lewis' books for a total of $3.
I do have a Kindle but I have to admit I have yet to really get into the Kindle mode. I love to have a book in my hands. I'm also not sure if I want to pay for a book on a device...so as of yet I only put the freebies on it. I did check out netgallery.com which I see you recommend. Do you get the book downloads easily? I don't have a book blog, but do teach. Anyone have any information or suggestions they can give me on it?
I look forward to reading with all of you & getting to know each of you.~Beth
Hi everyone, I just started using Goodreads the other day & just joined the group. I love Amish Fiction. I've read every book Beverly Lewis has out & have pre-ordered her newest one. I've also become a fan of Cindy Woodsmall & Shelley Shepard Gray.
Welcome Lorraine! This is a wonderful group of people here. Please feel free to jump in and participate as much as you feel comfortable. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!If you love Beverly Lewis, have you tried Wanda E. Brunstetter? I highly recommend The Daughters of Lancaster County series!!!!
Thanks Sara & Diane. I haven't tried Wanda's books but will have to after I've read all the new ones I've bought recently. I have The Caregiver & The Protector (Shelley Shepard Gray) to read & the lady at the bookstore recommended Kathleen Fuller's An Honest Love & A Man of His Word. I've never read any of her books either so I bought them.
Hi! My name is Hannah. I live in rural Alabama, on a backwoods dirt road, and I love it! I am a nursing student in a bachelor's of nursing program, but am out for the summer! Wahoo! Hi, all! I'm Victoria, a stay at home mom. Hello, I am Florence and I enjoy Amish Fiction too. I recently discovered Carrie Bender's series Miriam's Journal and have been more or less inhaling them.
Hello everyone. I just wanted to drop a quick note introducing myself. My name is Tracy and I have only been on goodreads for a couple of months now, but I have my blog going and I really do enjoy amish fiction of any kind! (though I do review a little bit of everything.) I recently read a very good one from Vannetta Chapman that is available on netgalley called Falling to Pieces: A Quilt Shop Murder. I really enjoyed it!! You can check out my review if you would like. http://tracystreasureofbooks.blogspot...
I will definitely be looking into more!
Hope to meet some of you soon.
Oh, welcome to Tracy too! Sorry, didn't see your post as it was on a new page :) I'm really looking forward to reading Vannetta Chapman's new novel, I loved her debut, A Simple Amish Christmas.
Thank you for the welcome, Ladies. I haven't read anything else by Vannetta but I will have to look for that one.
Oops! I posted this in the wrong spot. Sorry, guys. I'll try again...Hi, everyone. :) I'm Lisa Greer, and I wanted to say hi. I'm a new member of the group and a long time lover of the novel Plain Truth. I've visited Amish country in Pennsylvania several times, and it's wonderful. I'm also a gothic romance novelist, and my new contemporary Amish gothic romance novella is up for sale from Astraea Press for $3.00. If I've posted this in the wrong place, I sincerely apologize. I didn't see a spot. Thanks for having me in the group!
