I love the way Duncan cuts through the fog of hypocrisy that always surrounds fundamentalism. It's refreshing to hear someone talk about God in a way that doesn't make me cringe.

As a recovering fundamentalist Baptist, I appreciated this book's celebration of seeking and mysticism in spiritual life. Clingers to dogma will find it off putting.
Duncan's life, like his novels seems a "Coming of age"story. Here's hoping he never grows up and that he keeps writing.
