Samples from your books, that is! :-)

If yes, where? Your own website, wattpad, somewhere else entirely?

Edited to add, because Paul just reminded me of a good point:

Which format(s)?

Paul Daniels (mrpld) | 25 comments Hi Naomi. We offer several samples on our WWW site ( ) in both PDF and ePub formats. Should we post the links here?

Feel free, Paul! As well as giving other writers some examples of what we're doing, readers might be wanting to check out the thread. :-)

Paul Daniels (mrpld) | 25 comments We actually have a 1-chapter PDF excerpt, video trailer and audio-reading on the book site;

However, as we moved to the eBooks more, we added a 20 chapter excerpt to really get people hooked in on Elita's site once people have signed up to the blog.

We are still feeling our way around for the 'ideal balance' (if there is even one) and we may end up just replacing the 1-chapter excerpt with the 20-chapter one and leaving people to join the blog under their own accord rather than the baited-duress option.

I have:

- Samples available in PDF on the website: (please excuse the dodgy site design, it's very new)

- Excerpts on my Goodreads blog

- A whole novelette available on Smashwords, Goodreads, Feedbooks, my website and possibly a number of other places I've forgotten about

- bits and pieces uploaded to Wattpad as I write

Soma Helmi (somahelmi) | 8 comments Samples on Amazon, Smashwords and here on Goodreads. I just sent a sample to Indie Spotlight and the other day was recommended a site that posts free ebooks and reviews them. I sent them the first 30% of my book as a sample to post. I'm trying to remember the name of the site...

Ah yes, but it's mostly romance stuff. They allowed my book as it was put under contemporary.

Naomi, do you use Wattpad often? I was kind of scared off by the insistent requests of 13 year olds to review their short stories. Most involved hawt skaters or cheerleaders? Am I in the wrong section?

Shayne | 8 comments Yes, I do. My first book is free on Smashwords: and I have 50% free samples on the others (and one free short story).
