Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments I've always wondered about the name, "Kevin McCarthy", which is listed as the director of the TV show "Jeopardy". The only Kevin McCarthy I knew of was the actor. Today I read that the actor, Kevin McCarthy, has died at the age of 96. I now realize that the director, Kevin McCarthy, is a different person from the actor, Kevin McCarthy.

Below are links about the two Kevin McCarthy's in question:

THE ACTOR (1914-2010)(died 9/11/10):

Excerpt from the NY Times:
==================================================
"Kevin McCarthy, the suave, square-jawed actor who earned accolades in stage and screen productions of 'Death of a Salesman' but will always be best known as the star of the 1956 science fiction movie 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers,' died Saturday at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Mass. He was 96 and lived in Sherman Oaks, Calif."

Another thing I learned today is that the celebrated author, Mary McCarthy (1912–1989), was a sister of the actor, Kevin McCarthy.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments About Mary McCarthy, I just found out that one of Mary McCarthy's books, The Group, was made into a movie which can be streamed at Netflix.
"The Group" (1966):

Excerpts from Wiki:
====================================================
"After building a reputation as a satirist and critic, (Mary) McCarthy enjoyed popular success when her 1963 novel _The Group_ remained on the New York Times Best Seller list for almost two years. Her work is noted for its precise prose and its complex mixture of autobiography and fiction."

"The Group (1962), ... - adapted as a 1966 movie of the same name."

====================================================

I'll be streaming the movie soon.
