Tom For all the acclaim for his monumental epics, my favorite Tolstoy work is a tiny little gem of a short story titled "The Three Hermits." The only place I've come across it is in an anthology "Short Shorts," edited by Irving Howe, a great collection of very short short stories (which also contains the first Isaac Babel story I ever read, "The Death of Dolgushov").
