Ghastek is the Master of the Dead for the People. he is the People's chosen representative to deal with Kate.

Ghastek is kind of creeptastic. I like the banter between him and Kate. She keeps him on his toes.

AMythicalBeast | 26 comments Do you know when I first read magic bite and ghastek's creepy vampire sidled into Kate's kitchen in the first scene, I wondered if he would turn out to be her love interest. (Ghastek, not the vampire)
You have to understand, I didn't have very high hopes of the book when I first picked it up. Blame it on the cover. But damn was I happy to be wrong!

AMythicalBeast | 26 comments What?! Weirder things have happened in urban fantasies. The girl usually ends up with a powerful, slightly or more than slightly menacing guy and at first I thought it might be Ghastek. *Stop! Stop! No, no, don't fall over laughing!*

Samina The Story Devourer | 87 comments opps!..sorry i just did...cant say i blame you now.I suppose i understand the logic.

I want to know what is it exactly that ghastek and his fellow necromancers are trying to find out with their experiments with the undead. I mean, yeah, great so you can pilot a vampire and have really good reflexes in a body not yours, but what's the point? Why are they spending so much money to create vampires (why are they being allowed to do this?) and where are they getting the money? I mean the casino money cant be enough.

Samina The Story Devourer | 87 comments It seems that the Casino does make a lot of money. Its only the first book which gives u a lil idea bout the People but the prupose of vampires I m not so clear bout, however I think they r used for dangerous missions where it may be too dangerous for humans. I think they do a lil bit of guarding and patrol for the city too.I read a post on Ilona Andrews website called Birthday part 1, were Kate says that the Vampires were patroling that part of the city.

That's a really good point. I wonder if Roland has a deeper hand in the research than what appears.

That's hilarious! I almost didn't read the book because of the cover! It looked so stupid. I'm glad I read it though - I love this series.

I've wondered the same thing.

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) I love Ghastek. He's among my fave characters in the series. I'm generally fascinated with the vamps and the Masters of the Dead.
