Hi eveyone!
I've been offline more tha unusual this week due to traveling (book promotion stuff) but I just took a moment to update my personal blog for the week and wanted to share this with you since I know several among you enjoy dancing. My post is The Magic of the Minuet and you must check out the first Youtube video. It's absolutely entrancing!

WOW! I really love watching that.
If there was a DVD of it I could play in slow motion, I think I would learn it for myself!

Hi All-
For those of you as fascinated with the Georgian age as I am, you might wish to check out my recent blog posts on the Four Georges.
With the salacious tidbits I've unearthed, (adultery, bisexuality, and bigamy) I'm beginning to think I'm writing an 18th century National Enquirer!
http://emerylee.wordpress.com/
Enjoy!

message 4: by Jill (new)

Jill Emery
Thankyou for those deliciously scandalous posts about the Georges.
Actors, singers and celebrities of today are just so darn boring!

Yes. Quite a few years ago. It's considered rather a romance classic.

Rima Jean (thefictionchick) | 22 comments That's good! I'll let you know what I think when I'm all done... :)

I just did and several members of this group read it and loved it.A Knight in Shining Armor

Yes, I did and I still own a copy of it. It is among my favorites. The entire novel enthralled me.

message 11: by Rima (new)

Rima Jean (thefictionchick) | 22 comments Yeah! Okay, I'm starting it tonight. :)

message 12: by Jill (new)

Jill My two cents worth. I didn't like it.

Hey Jill- It was 3 stars from me. I liked parts of it but the middle lost me for a time.

message 14: by Christy (new)

Christy English (christy_english) | 67 comments I really loved A Knight in Shining Armor...good time travel romance classic for me...Jude Deveraux at her best, I thought. But then, I love sex scenes...

Rima Jean (thefictionchick) | 22 comments I think I'm going with Jill here. Not crazy about it. But then, I'm a really picky reader!

R.l. wrote: "I think I'm going with Jill here. Not crazy about it. But then, I'm a really picky reader!"

I tend to go along with Jill's opinion on many books -we only tend to differ greatly on Georgette Heyer!
I almost recommended Beauvallet as a good pirate read but don't think she'll be crazy for it. It's rather over the top but I was very amused by it.
Have you read it R.I.? Beauvallet by Georgette Heyer

message 17: by Rima (new)

Rima Jean (thefictionchick) | 22 comments No, but I've added it to my to-read list! Looks interesting...

message 18: by Rima (new)

Rima Jean (thefictionchick) | 22 comments And Emery - Jill liked The Noble Pirates! :) She posted a review. The Noble Pirates

I know she did! She nominated it for our book shelf several days ago and I posted a link to her review and shelved it for our group.

Rima Jean (thefictionchick) | 22 comments Emery, have you read Rafael Sabatini? Have you, Jill? It's old school, but lots of fun. He wrote Captain Blood and the Sea Hawk. The Sea-Hawk

Jill R.l. wrote: "Emery, have you read Rafael Sabatini? Have you, Jill? It's old school, but lots of fun. He wrote Captain Blood and the Sea Hawk. The Sea-Hawk"

R.l.
No, I haven't. I just checked it out though - published in 1915! It certainly is 'old school'.
I'll have a look at it, but it might be a little too old for me. That's why I'm not real fond of Georgette Heyer, as Emery knows.

Just for fun-
For lovers of English history - Here's a link to an original Jacobite poem. The idea woke me in the dead of night so I had to follow the muse!

A whole new way to multi-task! Hey guys, today I tried an experiment- 60 minutes on the elliptical machine with my Kindle!
I remembered MISFIT mentioned a while back that does the treadmill while reading. I thought I could never handle such a balancing act, until I noticed a "lip" on the elliptical that is perfect to prop my Kindle. I also avoid having to wear my reading glasses by increasing the font setting. I got the best workout in a long time and got to catch up on reading as well!

message 31: by Jill (new)

Jill I "blame" MISFIT as well for getting me back onto the exercise bike. Thanks Misfit.

Phobic Dawn - Katy Walters.

Loved it.

Shelley | 22 comments C.J. I'm glad you agree! I'm traveling on vacation now and missing my quiet minutes cycling away with a book in one hand....I also notice in the airport bookstores that romantic historical fiction sure does take up a lot of shelf space....

Emery, I just discovered these beautiful videos. I'm a baroque music junkie, and I love reading an historical romance before bed to the accompaniment of period music on my iPod. Also, I always wondered how women moved around in those wide dresses. Now I can picture it much more clearly when I read books from that period. Thanks so much.
