Melodie (melodieco) | 3604 comments Paretsky's BODY WORK is another 1st rate read! She has had a string of stellar books in the V.I. series. Am looking forward to the new Castle book and also ANGEL INTERRUPTED and SCOOP TO KILL. Am on the fence about the new Evanovich book. Diesel is quite the over-the-top character!

If you stop and think about it, all of J E's characters are over the top. IMO that's what makes her books readable. I certainly don't read them for the plot.

That's the truth!! I think she's trying to get into the "woo woo" market with this series since Diesel is supernatural. Think I'll read some reviews before I spring for it!

Cheryl | 547 comments A couple of additions for October:

Neville, Stuart..........Collusion (sequel to Ghosts of Belfast)
Ellroy, James
Penzler, Otto (editors)..The Best American Noir of the Century

Ann (annrumsey) | 14402 comments Thanks Cheryl. It is nice of you to continue the tradition of a pre-release listing by month. As I add them to my spreadsheet I can dream about having time to read them all - but have a much better shot at doing it! ')
One that stands out for me (among several) is the new Rozan in the Bill and Lydia series!
Rozan, S.J................On the Line(Smith/Chin)

Mary/Quite Contrary Phillips | 459 comments Cheryl...thanks for doing this....I know it must be time consuming, but I really miss Gail's posts ont he topic. ;-(

I got to pre-order the Spencer Quinn and Stuart Neville for kindle. Also, the latest Brian Freeman is out in the UK this month; I love him so I had to order a hard copy of that.

Dawn | 1270 comments Mary, I just finished The Burying Place (Brian Freeman)...wow, I was exhausted...a lot happened. I think The Bone House is a stand alone - he's giving Stride a rest...lol. I'm envious you're getting it so soon...it won't be in the US until March! But looking forward to reading your review!

Mary/Quite Contrary Phillips | 459 comments Dawn...I loved The Burying Place...it was exhausting...good comment! I'll be happy to share as soon as I've read it, but it won't be until after Bcon, or end of October. that's a bummer that THE BONE HOUSE is not a Stride book. If I had realized that I might not have ordered the UK copy! Email your address if you want to borrow it!

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 7889 comments Gee, I thought Stalked was exhausting! I've got
The Burying Place on my library pile. In fact it is due today, someone else has requested it, and I won't be returning it. I have to upload the CDs, then they can have!

Dawn | 1270 comments Carol, you're in for a treat. It reminded me of the emotional rollercoaster that Karin Slaughter brings to the background story of the character's personal life.
Mary, you are so sweet - since its not a Stride book, I'll just request it from the library and be patient. Now if it was a Stride book...I'd be taking you up on that offer in a second!!!
