Dreaming Anastasia according to the summary, I don't think that Anne (the main character) is with Anastasia, or at least not much

These are pretty much all young adult books, but if you think it was a 'grown up' novel, I might find more suggestions. :)

Natalia, I KNOW that I have a vast number of books that aren't recorded yet. I've been a major reader since I was 8 years old. Sometimes I find an old fav by buying a book at a thrift store or used book store without recognizing the title. I'll be a chapter or two into it before I go "Duh, I already READ this."

I agree with Sweetshortz's suggestion of Angel on the Square. I read and loved that book and the plot was exactly like what you described. If for some reason it is not that book, there is another book with a very similar plot called My Anastasia by Sharon Stewart http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/21...
