Tom Just saw the new movie "Coco and Igor," about brief but intense affair (according to the movie) between Coco Chanel and Stravinsky. Whether the character portrayals are historically accurate, I'll leave to others to decide, but the performances are wonderful. And the recreation of (in)famous premiere of Rite of Spring is marvelous, worth the price of admission alone.

Igor levshin (igor_le) | 12 comments Looks like Coco had a stable passion to all Russian. One of her friends and a director of one of her factories was Iliazd (Ильязд) or Ilia Zdanevich. Actually he was from Tiflis (=Tbilisi the capital of modern Georgia, Caucasus) but is well known as Russian Futurist (футурист) like Mayakovskii, Khlebnikov, Kruchenykh at al. Very interesting person. Iliazd was one of those who promoted Pirosmani (both famous and tragic Tifliss' naive painter. I'm not sure you've heard about him).

Tom I had not heard of Iliazd, Igor, but he sounds like an intriguing figure in his own right. I love hearing about these kinds of connections that fill gaps around "official" accounts. Thanks.

Zdanevitch became famous once more here because of his early poem that was written almost in the internet forum style :) (I suppose it’s quite similar style in English and in Russian)
