Does Author Gender make a difference to you? What are your thoughts?

Lauren Smith No, although I do think it's cool when an author writes in a genre not typical for their gender, such as a woman writing hard sci fi or a man writing feminist sci fi.

It sometimes bugs me that most of my favourite authors are male though, or that men write most of the books I read. Consequently, I sometimes make an effort to read more female authors, but I'd never choose to read or not read a book based on the author's sex.

I know mostly book names, if you ask me who wrote I could tell you but only the name pops into my head, not the face or gender.

If that makes sense :P

Naz (nazz) | 615 comments That does make sense because the same happens to me. I guess I just never thought of it.. Now I'm probably going to notice it every time I pick up a book.
