Slowly but surely, we're gaining members! We should try and start a weekly discussion or something. Pick a topic, post it, and discuss. Any thoughts or ideas on where to start?

Harley | 42 comments I would recommend we choose a book and read it together.

Dottie | 13 comments Great idea. Any suggestions?

Harley | 42 comments I recommend several possible books:

The Haiku Anthology, edited by Cor Van Den Heuvel. This contains some of the best English language haiku.

Japanese Death Poems, edited by Yoel Hoffmann. I have read this book twice and love it. Contains Japanese haiku poets.

Mountain Tasting, by Santoka Taneda. Translated by John Stevens. My favorite Japanese 20th century haiku poet.

The Essential Haiku, edited by Robert Hass. Contains the haiku of Basho, Buson and Issa.

We could run a poll and see what the group wants to read and discuss.

Dottie | 13 comments It might be good to begin with The Essential Haiku. I vote for that.

One of my favorites is "Basho and His Interpreters"
