Vennesa (csufgrad02) We are about to start a new school year with new students. What are some ice breakers that allow you to get to know the students without having them fill out a worksheet?

What grade do you have? I have been teaching for 35 years so I have quite a few icebreakers. Just let me know your grade, and I'll be glad to forward some to you.

I have 2 favorites:
1. Students arrange themselves according to their birthday months. They can not talk as the put themselves in sequence. Older students can extend this by including the date as well as the month.
2. Who Am I - students write down 5 least known facts about themselves. Their papers are posted. Teacher reads each one, students get 3 guesses if they fail to guess the correct student reveals him/herself.
