Books about best friends?

I want to buy my best friend a book about best friends. We are two girls in high school and have known each other since grade 2. I want a good heartfelt book, any ideas?

Who Will Run the Frog Hospital? by Lorrie Moore. Might be a little too mature, but it is a good book.

This is kinda depressing. However I didn't list it in the other discussion because I wouldn't say it was 'the best of them' It is a good book about best friends though.

P.S. Longer Letter Later is about two best friends writing letters to each other after one of them moves away. It is a letter book, but I really enjoyed it.
