SpazzyJazzy ((Greenleaf has become unbearably hot... Thunderclans territory is dry enough as it is, but will they expect the approaching forest fire? And how will they handle it when it destroys their whole territory?))

Ashwhisker padded out from the warriors den and sat in the shade, but it was still scorching. Her pelt soaked up the warmth and it made her feel sick to have so much heat. But still she padded to the middle of the camp and called, "I need three cats on a hunting patrol and two on a border patrol with me! Come to the entrance!" She padded over to the entrance. She would go with the border patrol. With all this dryness, the prey was nearly gone and other Clans would be crossing borders.

message 3: by SpazzyJazzy (new)

SpazzyJazzy Dawncloud heard Ashwhiskers cry, but continued sorting through her herbs. With a frustrated sigh, she couldn't help but notice how little remained of them, especially in the dry heat. Throwing out the last of her catmint, Dawncloud slipped out of her den to go gather more herbs, or try to anyway. Nodding to Ashwhisker as she walked out, the Medicine Cat plodded through the forest, scowling at the rising sun that promised more scorching weather.

Mapleheart woke up from his deep sleep in the warriors den. He heard Ashwhisker mewing for cats to go on patrols. He scrambled to his paws and stepped over the other sleeping cats in the den. Poking his head out of the den, he instantly flinched as the warm heat from the sun glared into his eyes viciously. Mapleheart trotted out into the clearing towards Ashwhisker. "I'll go on the border patrol." he mewed.

message 5: by SpazzyJazzy (new)

SpazzyJazzy "Me too" Jayfrost said, slipping into veiw at Maplehearts side, nodding to him in greeting. "Whose border are we doing?" Although he didn't actually mind, having never being the fussy sort of cat, Jayfrost would've liked to think ShadowClan would be a good border. There was nothing better to start the day with than an argument with one of those mouse-brains.

Mapleheart looked at Ashwhisker. "Which border?" he asked Ashwhisker. He'd prefer to go on the Shadowclan border. It was less sunny there. The Windclan border was probably too warm and hot. The moor land didn't provide that much shade during green-leaf. "Shadowclan border?" he asked Ashwhisker.

Kayla | 1115 comments Mod
"Sure, ShadowClan is fine. And once that's done, we can come back or if you two are okay with it, we could also go to the WindClan border. Their territory is open and dry and I have a feeling their prey is the most scarce in the forest. We need to make sure they know exactly where the border is." Ashwhisker kewed all this in a somewhat raspy tone. She hadn't gotten much sleep last night.

((Yay!!! Kayla is back...again!))

"Alright." Mapleheart nodded in agreement. "With all this heat, a cat could easily wander into another clan's territory." he mewed. The heat was taking an effect on all the clans. He didn't know how much longer he could take the warmth. Even snow would be better than a scorching drought.

message 9: by SpazzyJazzy (last edited Jul 16, 2010 09:01PM) (new)

SpazzyJazzy Jayfrost nodded, secretely pleased with the decision to pay their 'dear friends' of ShadowClan a visit. "Who knows if one of them have crossed into the territory already?" he pointed out, impatient to leave. "Perhaps we should be going...?" The older warrior looked at Ashwhisker, tail twitching slightly as he awaited to be off.

message 10: by Kayla, ...that she'll never see again! (new)

Ashwhisker nodded to the tom who had just walked up, her pale pelt glittering in the sun. "Thank you, Darkmoon. Get two other cats to go with you. Do not come back until you each have at least one piece of prey, but two would be better." She flicked her tail dismissively and then turned her bright but tired eyes back to Jayfrost and Mapleheart. "We'll stop by what's left of the stream to get a drink, and then we head to ShadowCan first and then WindClan." She padded toward the entrance, her paws stinging faintly on the hot ground.

message 11: by SpazzyJazzy (new)

SpazzyJazzy Jayfrost followed after Ashwhisker, looking up at the cloudless sky. It seemed as if StarClan would not even offer them that luxury. He could already imagine that sickly heat that would make his pelt stick to his body, and send cats scampering for space and prey. Leaf-fall would be a nice change from this, even though prey would still be scarce. And then what of the next season? Will our Clan manage to survive that long?

Mapleheart padded after Ashwhisker. His paws felt too warmed by the hot ground. Even leaf-bare would be nicer than this. The temperature would only get warmer and warmer as the sun rose higher into the sky. And it was only the beginning of green-leaf! By the end of green-leaf, who knew what would happen. All the clans could be dead of thirst from lack of water. The sun was making the water from the lake and rivers evaporate fast, faster than the last green-leaf.

Ashwhisker glanced back to make sure her warriors were following and the padded out, and headed for the small stream that ran through their territory. She got to it and there was nothing left, except a small trickle. She lapped at it. It was cool on her throat. Then she stepped back and invited the others do the same. If only there was enough to roll in. Great StarClan, right now she wished she was a RiverClan cat.

Mapleheart glanced at what was left of the stream in dismay. That bit of water couldn't possibly support all of Thunderclan. Starclan, what will become of Thunderclan if we can't even drink water He dipped his head down to drink a bit of water. Cautiously, he stuck out his tongue and felt a few drops of water land on his tongue. It felt cool against his throat, but it didn't satisfy his need for more water. He stepped back to join Ashwhisker.

message 15: by Kayla, ...that she'll never see again! (new)

Kayla | 1115 comments Mod
Ashwisker nodded as he stepped back, mirroring what she knew he was thinking. "We'll need to save this water." She twitched her whiskers and waited for Jayfrost to take his drink, wonder why he didn't. They needed to get to the borders. The other Clans would be invading, and they needed to set the borders strongly.

message 16: by SpazzyJazzy (last edited Jul 17, 2010 03:57PM) (new)

SpazzyJazzy Jayfrost had a few licks of the water, but no more, the mud left behind by the stream sticking to his pelt and sucking him in. The water was receeding too fast, and he didn't want to take it all when it could do better else where. Stepping back to stand beside Ashwhisker, he cast one last look at the water, feeling miserable at how little was left. How was ThunderClan going to make it through this greenleaf?

message 17: by Kayla, ...that she'll never see again! (new)

Kayla | 1115 comments Mod
Ashwhisker nodded and flicked her tail to keep moving. She padded through the undergrowth, her pelt dappled by the patches of hot sunlight and warm shade. She headed to the ShadowClan border and sniffed thoroughly. If they had been crossing, she needed to know and do something about it.

message 18: by SpazzyJazzy (new)

SpazzyJazzy Jayfrost sniffed the air around him, senses alert despite the heat. His throat was still parched, but he'd refused to take more than he had. Glancing around, his head snapped in the direction at even the slightest noise. ShadowClan cats, the filthy vermin, would probably take advantage of any oppurtunity they could get their paws on, and he wouldn't put anything past them

message 19: by Jennifer, came to the conclusion that Cinta is a fighter-jetting cannibal (new)

Jennifer | 466 comments Mod
Mapleheart sniffed the air around the Shadowclan border. It would so be like Shadowclan to start taking other clan territories while they were weak from lack of water. Hopefully, Shadowclan was suffering as much as them and wouldn't be planning any attacks this green-leaf. If they did attack Thunderclan, they would find the warriors ready to fight. Heat and lack of water wouldn't stop them from protecting their borders.

message 20: by SpazzyJazzy (new)

SpazzyJazzy Jayfrost bristled as ShadowClans scent hit him, but it was still quite clearly on ShadowClans side of the border. Smokefoot slipped into veiw, followed by a group of other cats. What the young warrior was doing leading a patrol, Jayfrost had no idea. Probably something to do with 'special attention' from 'dad'... or the Deputy trying to suck up to Blazingstar. Easy way, Jayfrost wall all too keen to have a go at them. "Have ShadowClan become so desperate they need apprentices to lead their patrols?"

message 21: by Kayla, ...that she'll never see again! (new)

Kayla | 1115 comments Mod
Ashwhisker hissed under her breath but flicked her tail over Jayfrost's ears and scolded him in a hushed, wary tone. "Hush, Jayfrost." She stood confidently at the head of her patrol and stared straight at the young warrior in front of the ShadowClan patrol. "What are you all doing so close to the border at this time?" she asked him, her voice cool. Her eyes glittered, prepared for any answer he might respond with.

message 22: by SpazzyJazzy (new)

SpazzyJazzy "I could ask you the same thing, although I acutally have a brain and can pretty much guess your just here for border patrol, like us" Smokefoot growled, glaring at Jayfrost "Isn't it time you retired to the Elders Den?" Jayfrost flicked his tail irritably, but tried to keep his cool, partly because he was doing as Ashwhisker told him, partly because he didn't want to give the ShadowClan tom the satisfaction of getting to Jayfrost.

message 23: by Kayla, ...that she'll never see again! (new)

Kayla | 1115 comments Mod
Ashwhisker bared her teeth warningly. "My brain is more advanced than yours. Therefore I was making sure you weren't here to steal prey, and I can also tell you confidently that Jayfrost is a very valuable warrior. At least, more valuable than an inexperienced warrior." She flicked her tail irritably. "We will be going now. And you had better make sure you keep your paws on your own side of the border." She turned and started padding down the borderline.

message 24: by SpazzyJazzy (new)

SpazzyJazzy "How ever so courageous of your ThunderClan fox-hearts" sneered Smokefoot sarcastically. "Whats the matter? The drought affecting you more than you'd care to admit?" Jayfrost, who had been about to follow after Ashwhisker, bristled, mostly because it was so close to the truth. Without a second thought, he lunged for the younger warrior. Smokefoot could only grin, ducking and having Jayfrost sail right over him.

message 25: by Jennifer, came to the conclusion that Cinta is a fighter-jetting cannibal (new)

Mapleheart glared at Smokefoot. "Jayfrost." he mewed. "Get back here on our side of the border." he growled. "Is the drought affecting Shadowclan so hard that they can only send one warrior on a border patrol?" he asked Smokefoot. He sniffed the air to see if there were any other Shadowclan warriors with Smokefoot, but there appeared to be none.

SpazzyJazzy ((*Cough*Quote: followed by a group of other cats*Cough*))

"Are ThunderClan so delusional they can't notice whats right in front of their noses?" Smokefoot shot back, flicking his tail to the other cats, glancing back to make sure Jayfrost actually did go back onto ThunderClans side, yet unwilling to waste any valuable energy fighting the Senior Warrior. Jayfrost shot Mapleheart a look for ordering him around, but slinking back onto ThunderClans territory all the same.

Hissing, Ashwhisker turned around and bared her teeth in a snarl. Her voice was cool and light, but it had a hard angry edge to it. She flicked her tail. "I said, we are done here!" she growled, both at Jayfrost and the ShadowClan cats. She turned her eyes on Jayfrost, waiting until he was safely back over the border and then turning her gaze once more on Smokefoot. "The drought is affecting us all," she murmured, and then padded away, motioning for her warriors to follow.

((Srry, didn't see that...))

Mapleheart followed after Ashwhisker reluctantly. He didn't dare say anything else. The drought was having a bad effect on all the clans. He flicked his ears worriedly. He wanted to get back to camp, where there would be shade and shelter. How long would it be before a cat would die of lack of water? The heat was already unbearable.

message 29: by SpazzyJazzy (new)

SpazzyJazzy ((All good xD))

In a great display of self control (or for him, anyway), Jayfrost followed after Ashwhisker, tempted to throw another insult at the ShadowClan cats but knowing better. Instead, he settled for throwing one last glare over his shoulder before leaving, a smug Smokefoot left in his wake. Plunging further into the territory, Jayfrost shied away from any patch of light. Looking up, he noticed that even the leaves on top of the trees were beginning to shrivel up.

Ashwhisker turnd and was glad to see that her warriors, especially Jayfrost, were keeping under control very well. She padded a little farther away and marked the border, then kept on walking. "On to the WindClan border!" she called back to them, though her voice was barely more than a whisper. Her eyes gazed around her and her pelt blended in with the dapples of the forest.

message 31: by SpazzyJazzy (new)

SpazzyJazzy Jayfrost flicked is ears in acknowledgement to Ashwhiskers words, sniffing the area carefully to make sure WindClan actually was sticking to their border. As far as he could tell they were... for now. He thought it only a matter of time before the slimy furballs tried to make a move, knowing them. He hadn't realised how much energy the previous argument had sapped out of him and every step seemed to brush his pelt the wrong way.

Ashwhisker sniffed as well. She moved along the border, her tail touching her heels and her whiskers twitching. She was pretty relaxed, but suddenly a sharp scent hit her nose and she gasped. She was three tail-lengths inside her own border and there was the scent of WindClan! She growled and crouched, looking at the border, as if daring a cat to walk up and deny it.

Mapleheart followed behind the two other cats. He watched Ashwhisker sniff three tail-lengths away from the border that seperated Windclan and Thunderclan. He watched her let out a growl. "What's wrong?" he mewed questionly as he padded up to the deputy. He put his nose close to the part where Ashwhisker was sniffing. Windclan! They were inside Thunderclan territory.

message 34: by SpazzyJazzy (new)

SpazzyJazzy Jayfrost moved forward to also find out what was upsetting them so much, although the scent was unmistakable once he sniffed at it. His pelt bristling, Jayfrost looked as if he was prepared to march into WindClans Camp right then and there to accuse them. His claws sliding out and sinking into the ground, he made to follow the scent.

"WindClan has been here," she hissed under her breath. Her tail flicked back and forth angrily and her blue eyes scanned the land near and on the other side of the border. She sniffed again; this time there was a metallic scent. "Blood! They stole our prey!" she snarled. Her ears laid flat against her head. She looked at Mapleheart and Jayfrost. "We must tell Lilystar immediately," she said grimly.

((okay, so I was thinking that since owlstar's is so gentle and everything, a couple of his warriors were doing this and he did not know about it. Lilystar could report it at the next Gathering. Okay, Jazz?))

message 36: by SpazzyJazzy (new)

SpazzyJazzy ((Yep))

Jayfrost hissed, hackles raised. "The fox-hearted cowards!" he remarked, lashing his tail and returning to Ashwhiskers side. "If I ever catch them on our territory..." he trailed off, flexing his claws and suggesting he'd do a little more than simply 'ask nicely' for them to get off their land. "All the Clans are being affected by the drought- what right do they have to steal our prey?" he snarled.

message 37: by Kayla, ...that she'll never see again! (new)

Kayla | 1115 comments Mod
Ashwhisker hissed in agreement. She forced her fur to lie flat. "We need to tell Lilystar right away," she repeated. She flicked her tail in both a command and in anger, and picked up her pace, her long legs taking long pawsteps through the trees. She hoped the other two would follow.

((anyone have a windclan cat who could he doing this?))

message 38: by SpazzyJazzy (new)

SpazzyJazzy ((Kk))

Jayfrost sniffed the tail of scent one more time, just to see if he could identify the cat, but followed after Ashwhisker after being unable to. Matching her pawstep for pawstep, he wondered how Lilystar would go about solving the problem. Clearly an all-out attack wouldn't be the best idea, they were all suffering from the hot weather, but whether the plan was to approach them in their Camp or embarass them in front of a Gathering remained to be seen.

message 39: by Kayla, ...that she'll never see again! (new)

Kayla | 1115 comments Mod
Ashwhisker held her head high and searched for the smell on the way back, hoping it was strong enough in another area for her to identify the cat, but she couldn't find another place. The smell was slightly of milk and the nursery, but it very well could have been just a cat who had recently visited the nursery. She flicked her tail and kept going.

She knew that they had to hurry. The camp was only a few more fox-lengths away. She flicked her tail to her warriors and trotted into the camp. She immediately looked around for Lilystar. The ThunderClan leader had to be told about the WindClan stench. "Lilystar?" She called, but quietly. She didn't need the camp to think something was wrong.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

A drowsy Honeypaw dragged herself out of the apprentices' den, ducking underneath the brambles as she passed. Her eyes lazily wandered over camp for the fresh-kill pile, wanting to satisfy her morning craving for a mouse. Before going over to get her meal, she plopped down and gave herself a quick wash to smooth down the unkempt light ginger fur that stuck up in various places. Now trotting for the mouse that awaited for her consumption, she let out a wide yawn as if to show everyone how sleepy she was. Her ears were splayed down on either side of her head and tail dragging on the ground, showing that she wasn't in the greatest of moods today. Ashwhisker coming into camp alerted her senses a bit and she gave an abrupt turn toward the warrior, deciding to say hello. "Why good day, Ashwhisker, how're you?" she asked in greeting, with a comical twitch of the whiskers.

Ashwhiskr hissed, and her eyes were beyond reason. "Not good at all. Have you seen Lilystar? I need to speak with her immediately - it is terribly important." She took a moment to nuzzle her apprentice, though. "I you had gotten your lazy butt out of bed today younwould know why," she said, teasing. But she abruptly became serious again. "WindClan has been stealing prey. We found the scent this morning."

message 43: by SpazzyJazzy (new)

SpazzyJazzy ((Somebody will have to roleplay Lilystar))

Jayfrost gave Honeypaw a single disapproving glance, almost as if he thought the apprentice was nothing but a hinderence to the information that had to be delivered. Did she not think there were more important things to be happening other than having a friendly chat to her mentor? Surely even Ashwhisker understood the importance of the situation, and Jayfrost thought it better if she sent the apprentice away to do more important things other than to sit around and consume the fresh-kill that would be better used for the Queens and Elders. This drought was affecting them all, afterall.

((What an unpleasant cat you are, Jayfrost))

((Haha. Meanie. Hey, who is the actual roleplayer of Lilystar? Is it Jen? Because we need Fawntail in River as well. Has anyone seen her lately?))

Ashwhisker nodded to her apprentice. "Now Honeypaw, I need to find Lilystar. I will have time to train you later, I promise, but for now go and get something from the fresh-kill pile." She flicked her tail in both a goodbye and a command to Jayfrost to follow. She padded past and called out again, "Lilystar!"

((You're the mod, you do it. :P ))

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Honeypaw felt a small indignation to the look she had received from Jayfrost, but her mentor's teases only gave her a small sense of play and joy. Her initial reaction was to give the older warrior a piece of her mind, but Ashwhisker's information made Jayfrost seem like a mere flea on her pelt. Completely insignificant. Her ears went up with interest, but she was sure not to make them shoot up like an eager little apprentice. A sly grin curled her lip in the slightest and she nodded to farewell in her mentor, trotting over lightly to the fresh-kill pile. As if to show that she was the model apprentice, Honeypaw quickly ate one of the smallest mice and took a large squirrel, heading for the Nursery.

Jayfrost padded after Ashwhisker, wondering where on earth the she-cat was.
Lilystar, giving a start at Ashwhiskers cry, stretched her limps and exited her den reasonbly fast. Presumably, with such an urgent tone in her voice, something serious had happened and needed her urgent attention. "Ashwhisker!" Lilystar called, padding over to her Deputy. "Whats wrong?" she asked both Jayfrost and Ashwhisker, eyes flicking between the two of them.

((I hope I got that semi-right >.< Gtg, see ya!))

((haha, and bye!))
Ashwhisker hissed. "Lilystar, I took the dawn patrol out today. All was fine on the ShadowClan border, except for the fact that they tried to accuse us of tresspassing." he left out the part about Jayfrost fighting. "The RiverClan border was quiet, but on the way back I picked up WindClan stench! WindClan has been stealing prey, Lilystar, I'm positive! It was three tail-lengths inside our own border and there was blood-stench too. The filthy cowards have been taking our prey because they don't have enough!" She was agitated.

message 49: by SpazzyJazzy (new)

SpazzyJazzy Jayfrost lashed his tail, semi-pleased that Ashwhisker hadn't spoken about his confrontation, but too absorbed with Lilystars response to fully acknowledge it.
Lilystar seemed to think for a second, as if considering her options carefully. Charging into battle would be foolish, especially since they were in the middle of a drought, as it could cost her Clan dearly. Confronting Owlstar at the Gathering might not be such a good idea either, as the embarrassment might rile the Clan up into attacking them, and that was the last thing her Clan needed. "I'll take a patrol with me now, but first you two can grab something tfrom the fresh-kill pile. You'll need your strength... just in case"
