miranda Can anybody recommend good gay literature?

Leila With 'gay literature', do you mean LGBT-literature or only male-male relationships?

If the latter then well, besides Maurice which is my favourite, I recommend Alan Hollinghursts novels. I've read Line of Beauty and the Spell and they were okay. Not the best but still good reading. The author has a very distinct style, especially in the Line of Beauty.

I've heard a great deal of good about Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin. I haven't read it yet but it's on my to-read list.

If you're interested in other GLBT-literaure that is not just about male love, then I also recommend Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit by Jeanette Winterson. It's one of my favourite novels.

There are tons of more of course. I have yet to read several that are on my to-read list but here are a couple of lists, shelves and groups here at goodreads that may guide you as well.

There is also the Triangle's list of 100 best lesbian and gay novels:

Hope this helps!
