RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Pacman (not the NFL player who goes to too many strip clubs, the video game)and The Empire Strike Back turn thirty this weekend....

http://www.realtvaddict.com/2010/05/2...

Did you play? I was better at Ms. Pacman, actually. And I liked Tempest more, too.

Our children will never know the horrors of the mall video game arcade...all that stimuli...and that desire for just...one...more...quarter...

As for The Empire Strikes Back? Let's just say that movie ruled. That is all.

You'll learn to relish that feeling, Sally. Trust me.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments Aren't there still arcades? I see them at the movie theater - what's in there if not Pacman?

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments DON'T be freaked out and sad, Sally... just think - WE had an awesome childhood! The kids today should be jealous.

They SHOULD! You know what I was thinking about this morning as I was dozing with Leah?
Smurfs.

The sweet, mysterious cartoon but moreso the collectibles which were so awesome and unique and actually hard to come by.

When you're six they were.

They were. That's true. I think my favorite stickers in my sticker album were the smurf oily stickers. :) I looooved to run my finger over the surface and watch the oil pool swirl rainbows around inside the bubbly packet. What I DIDN'T like about them was that once you stuck the stickers on a surface, you couldn't remove them because it'd about guarantee the bubble would pop and you'd have an oil leak. Maybe is was foreshadowing the BP spill?

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments You know there's going to be a new Smurfs movie, don't you?

OMG oily stickers. My sister had one in the shape of a footprint and I was SO jealous of it.

Sticker collections in general were kick ass cool.

And ZOMG NO! New smurfs movie! Just in time to smack me in the nostalgia!

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Here's the IMBD site on the movie...I think it's part animation and part real life...

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments OHmygoodness! How'd you find out about that, RA? I think Jonathan Winters as the voice of Papa Smurf is brilliant! :)

HA! I had the exact same thought, Sally. I think Neil Patrick Harris as Johan is brilliant, too.

Yes, yes. At fist I was all "snark. real people and cartoons. That'd only be cool with so and so and so in it." But then so AND so AND so were all in it!

I don't know how I feel about Katy Perry as Smurfette, though.

I'd feel more comfortable with Blair or maybe Scarlett Johanssen as Smurfette.

Who's Blair? I think Natalie Portman would be great as Smurfette... the voices are fairly similar, too - cartoon Smurfette's and Natalie's, I mean.

I know, I know. It confused me when I wrote it, but I left it hoping it made sense, just not to me.

I had to read it several times. I understand it, though.
