Speaking of that... http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5824119/1... :3 Not my fanfiction. J..."
Oh! Nice...
Oh, sweet fanfic! I was very proud of myself that I could understand the German. ^^ Mostly... In English, we started our Holocaust unit, and I talked about stuff I learned from The Book Thief.
For my online class, I had to answer a question about WWII, and I started writing about how some people didn't agree with Hitler's ideas but they pretended to so they wouldn't be killed, and then I started thinking about The Book Thief and I wrote and wrote and wrote... and then I realized that I'd written an entire paragraph, while everyone else wrote a couple sentences.I also realized that I could ramble on and on about WWII and Nazis and opposition to Hitler for about six hours. Heh... oops. :D
awww, Rudy... honestly, the part where Rudy was asking for Liesl's kiss? i was angry at her... he deserved it! and Liesl wasnt too kind to give that liberty to Rudy... aawww.. but that fact made my cry more after i have read the book.. that wasne of the many reasons why i loved Liesl, Rudy, and the book itself..
Rudy. *sob*I'm sorry *sob*
I'll come back and reply seriously later when I can think straight *sob*
even though I read it a while ago *sob*
He's probably my favorite *sob*
*uncontrollable sobbing*
Oh right, I forgot about Death! Hm, for some reason, I never really thought of him as a character until I joined this group. But yes, I guess Death would be my favorite. Then Rudy.
When Rudy died, I went through a series of steps.STEP 1: Gape like a dead fish.
STEP 2: Reread the last few pages to confirm that yes, this was actually happening.
STEP 3: Realize that Rudy just died.
STEP 3a: Have trouble remembering how to breathe.
STEP 4: Try really hard not to cry because you're in the car.
Later, at home...
STEP 5: Stuff book under shirt and run upstairs.
STEP 6: Lock self in bathroom.
STEP 7: Sob uncontrollably.

Me too...but mine was a library book. I'm going to buy it though...maybe even in hardcover...
Good, cuz it would've been creepy if it were EXACTLY the same...
Mine went something like this:
1. Read page.
2. Reread sentence to make sure I read it right.
3. Reread paragraph to make ABSOLUTELY sure I read it right.
4. Reread page to make ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY sure I read it right.
5. Start to cry.
6. Lose ability to read through tears.
7. Control self.
8. Finish book.
9. Go get a Jane Austen book to make me happier.

I think I had to put the book down for half an hour and just stare into space, forcing myself to stop crying, before I finished it. And of course, I had to go back and reread that whole chapter to double-check.
I would read it at night mostly, but right before I went to bed I would read Jane Austen because everything in THE BOOK THIEF was so emotionally heavy that I didn't want to sleep with it on my mind...
