Oh, gosh, I have been in love with getting mail/letters since I was a little kid!!! I still write some pen-pals I've known since I was maybe nine years old!!! Love this list of books! :-) Thank you!

I think some of the Flat Stanley sequel books also involve mailing himself to other countries to visit.

Of those on the list I have really enjoyed Mailing May and The Giant Hug.

I read a lot of novels in letter format when I was younger - if I think of any that aren't on the list and that would be available in English, I'll post them here! I also love to read published letters of historical figures, but that's not really for this group...

I've actually got an international postcard swap for families going on at the moment on my blog (although we're now closed to families based in the US) - this was the reason I collected the list of books on mail/post/letters in the first place.

If you want to take part, get in touch soon as the deadline for signing up is Friday 30th April.
Moderators - please let me know if this post isn't ok. I didn't set out to "advertise" my swap - but seeing as penpals were mentioned it seemed ok to mention the swap.
Oh, I am so sad the postcard swap is closed to US families! (Though I understand your reasoning) Do you think it will open up again in the future???
I do see there is another postcard swap taking place "The Great American Postcard Swap" which you reference on your blog:

I recently compiled a list of picture books about mail / post / letters and cards, with the help of with the help of the generous community who make up the Child Lit email group at Rutgers and I was wondering if there is a way to upload it here? As I'm new I'd appreciate some guidance! If it's not possible / in the meantime, the list is available (in 4 parts - there are 99 books in total!) at Amazon:
