I always thought it was to procreate.

message 4: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) We're here to ask why we're here.

message 5: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11676 comments I exist because my dad thought my mom was hot, and she thought he was cute.

Then there's some stuff about sperm & an egg & all that, but it was my mom and dad, so that part is gross.

message 6: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) That's the process, not the reason.

message 7: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I dare everyone right now to think of their parents having sex.

Exectly.

We are here to think, meditate, dream, get angry, love, hate, set goals, work, laugh, cry, see, experience, enjoy, suffer.... in other words - to live.

Mary (madamefifi) To be is to do---Kant
To do is to be--Socrates
Do be do be do be do--Sinatra.

That sums it all up as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, the answer is 42. But what is the question?

message 15: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11676 comments Larry wrote: "That's the process, not the reason."

So you want the metaphysical stuff. I'll stay out, then, since I believe we're all just pieces of meat, like any other animal. We have certain advantages, is all.

message 16: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I understand, Phil.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments I think we get to decide our own reasons for our existence. Which is an exciting thought, and just a little bit scary! :)

message 18: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Some of us have excuses rather than reasons.

message 19: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) But why do you find it fascinating that we assume there is a why?

message 20: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) But ... why?

message 21: by Knarik (new)

Knarik Someone once said: "Earth is another planet's hell" , don't you think it can be true?
