Scott What is something you have learned from a martial art that transcended a mere physical skill? For me it was the odd, often difficult to attain, calmness among the storm. Kicks, punches, shouting and then a moment of clarity. Suddenly you feel what you have to do and just as quick it is over and the feeling fades away. It is enlightening.

Tim (timjohnson) | 8 comments I enjoy observing the balance of Yin and Yang in the martial arts. After a sparring match for example, you have a winner and you have a loser. The winner gains confidence and pride, but what does the loser gain? Seemingly not much, but in looking closer they gain humility, patience and determination. You need all of the above and martial arts provides the full cycle of elements.
