What's going to happen to Simon now that he has the mark of Cain?

apparently no one can kill him now, or something like that. that's what i remember from the discussion on Cassie's group. i'll look into it.
ya, any person who strikes down Cain will be revenged upon sevenfold. or something like that. but, there has been much foreshadowing that it will bear BAD stuff too.
Here found it, this is what Cassie said about it in the group: As Raphael says in CoG, having the Mark of Cain means you are basically
invulnerable. No one can touch you. Anyone who tries to harm you will have
that harm reflected back on them *sevenfold.* There's actually a chapter in
CoFA called "Sevenfold" in which we see what it's like when a person
actually tries to kill someone bearing the Mark of Cain (Simon) and it is
not pretty

Yes they are invulnerable but also they are doomed to walk the earth alone. So does that mean Simon can never find love or what if everyone he loves dies or something?
i know he was already a vampire but now no one can even touch him, so it's impossible for him to die in any way and that kinda makes him lonely right? that was my guess on it
well since he is a vampire pretty much all the people he loves will die eventualy
plus thats kinda what made him go on that school trip

Well the mark of Cain basically gaurentees Simon's survival, none of the vampires will risk killing him and Shadowhunters will be wary of a Marked Daylighter. I thought that the mark also reinforces the Vampire effects, like watching everyone you love die (Forced to wander alone.) And he can't stay in one place for too long, someone will notice that he NEVER ages...
well, but there's also a side to the mark that's bad. cain died eventually.
I think if she makes that a big part of the fourth book I will hate it. I don't like when authors extend things more then they need to be.
I always had this idea niggling me, where all I can think is that anything that happens to a marked vampire is returned sevenfold. Anything.
Catch my drift?

Ha, I love it. I do that too. I always expect a lightning bolt to strike or something. I have weird ideas, like an alternatove use for the mark of cain. I've thought about it since COG came out, so I wrote it out. I added in Izzy's realisation of that, and her abvious joy,I gave Hidge a daughter, who's part demon and Simon a crap load of problem in a story I've written.

yes, cain is from the bible. There is a part that describes two brothers, Cain and Abel. Cain, the older, "was a tiller of the ground", while Abel "was a keeper of sheep". both brothers offered a sacrifice to god. (Cain gave crops, and Abel gave sheep). When God accepted Abel's offering, but not Cain's, Cain killed his brother.When God confronted Cain about Abel's death, God cursed him, saying:
"What have you done? Listen! Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground. Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth." (Gen. 4:10–12)[2:]
As an act of irony, the curse by God focused strictly on neutralizing the benefits of Cain's primary skill, cultivating crops. When Cain complained that the curse was too strong, and that anyone who found him would kill him, God responded, "Not so; if anyone kills Cain, he will suffer vengeance seven times over",[3:] and God "set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him" (Gen. 4:15).

Well, It's mainly Simon (which I'm ecstatic about), so It will be a major plot point.
actually simon is about only - i'm happy to say -1/2 the book not the whole thing YAY!!!!!!!!The first three pages that Cassie read were Clary's piont of view and had nothing about simon

The first chapter is from Clary's perspective and evrything else is from Simon's

I don't think so, because Simon was at that Party at the end of COG and it started before Sunset. So he won't get "sunburned". Thank goodness.
technically he's already dead, and every time i remember that it gets me all sad. in a way it's worse than death
especially since he's a vegetarian, who has to drink blood to survive....It's actually making me tear up.

Wouldn't the Mark of Cain kill Simon before hand? I mean, it IS from the bible and he can't say holy names yet. [I'm saying "yet" because the head vampire CAN say holy names, I learned that from the excert]Also, I think this screwed up his like entirely, he can't worship god, he can't even be a Jew..I woulda killed myself at the vampire stage. See the name Lord is sometimes used referring to Jesus Christ. In the new testament Jesus is the Savior and identifies himself as equal with God....meaning Jesus...is God. But the Jews (correct me if I'm wrong) Don't believe Jesus was the Messiah. He was just a great prophet. So...if all I've said so far is correct...then he'd easily be able to say Lord because he's jewish and doesn't identify the name with God.....
Now does that all make sense?
And response to the cursed part. Someone I think said this: He was cursed from the ground meaning the talents he had were no longer going to work. Because that was his only line of work he had ever known he became a wanderer because of this. Think of it like the only job you know how to do just ceased to be something you were good at....at all
This pertains to the punishment -> "seven times more than on Cain; that is, he shall be exceedingly punished; vengeance shall be taken on him in a very visible manner, to a very great degree;"
Funny thing is Cain complains about his punishment being too harsh so God is merciful in bestowing "the mark of cain". (people still debate whether it was a physical mark, a sign....all kinds of stuff)
But here's a thought. Cain pleaded because of his punishment and received the mark. Simon ASKED for the mark. Will that have any affect on the nature/effect of the mark????

How did Simon get to know about the Mark of Cain? Did Clary tell him about it?
