Why are people acting like Stephenie Meyer created "vegetarian" vampires? I've got new for people complaining about that concept, self-loathing vampires did not start with Twilight. Angel from Buffy The Vampire Slayer did not feed from humans. Louis from Interview with The Vampire was not a "vegetarian" but he hated being a vampire. Meyer is not the first to use the vampire/human love story plot either.

You know Tiny… your not the first one to say that. I have to say a couple of ppl I know have really started getting into reading because of Twilight and that we have to praise SM for because our society doesn’t have enough readers.

I have to agree with you, Scarlet. I wouldn’t not be surprise if SM got her ideas from these past characters. We have a huge list of vampires that did not like to consume blood and take a persons life starting with Louis and continuing with Stephen from Vampire Diaries. And actually the whole Vampire/human thing is seriously played out lol but we fall for it every time. I think that’s one of the reason why I seriously loved the Underworld Trilogy! You don’t see Werewolf (or any other supernatural) and vampires very much.

And your right Rayna… like I said the main thing that is ruining the whole Twilight image is the advertising and media. And we still have 2 more movies to go!! So you know you have not heard the last of it for a long time. But in the mean time we can sit back and watch these fools make a mockery of the whole thing while we know that we we’re here before it really took off like this. :p

Looks like I too have missed a great topic. I am not a big fan of Twilight. I do appreciate that Stephenie Meyer got young girls to read. That is the best thing to come out of it. First I must say I did not read Twilight, it is not my style of book. My wife read it and told me not to read it. She knows how I get with vampires and when someone changes the lore/myth.

When she told me they could walk in the daylight and they glittered that was the point when I had to see the movie. The movie was not bad for who it was geared to. However, I understand that things were changed for the sake of the story. I have been told by my nieces who are big Twihards that this, that and the other was different from the book.

I do not believe that the Twilight series spoiled the image of vampires. There is always someone, like me that like their vampires dark and fierce. That is why I am writing the novel I am writing. It goes back to the darkness of the vampire. I have to agree with Auroralumi the Twilight image was all developed through marketing and the media. If the publisher/movie studio had not invested the amount of money into promotion the books would not have done as well.

Yes! the media is what spoils their image, they see whats hot right now, then plaster them all over the tabloids or whatever and then soon, everyone that was into vampires are going to be like 'ugh! I USED to like those things'and then they say 'oh twilight was the reason i hate vampires!' lolz its the media guys! they're the people who make most of the money so blame those guys! lol

personally, I was a twilight non-believer at first, if It wasn't for my bff who nagged me into reading them, i wouldn't've looked twice at the books. She was a little skeptic at telling me to read them, because she knew i wouldn't even touch them. (the titile gave it away for me to not want to read them, but I guess they say don't judge a book by its cover, same goes for title...but then I heard that they glitter and I started laughing so I decided to give it a try, but ended up watching the movie instead and i liked it, so i guess the movie got me to reading the books too...yes glitter was a little 'out there' and 'off the radar' but i guess the love story is what gets fans obsessed with these books.

I've always read alot, just not as much I do now, so yeah definitely SM got me back into reading, though I do prefer writing more...sounds weird i know lol but thats just me

How would you like to see a vampire in a Young Adult novel? Meaning what would he/she be like? how would they look? How would they act? Would they burn in the daylight? Would you like them to be a modern vamp, or one of the old school vamps. What would be your perfect version of a vampire in a Young Adult book.

Remember that this is for Young Adult lol so say catering to audiences 15 and up.

i guess id want a vamp who is really moody lol. like one second hes okay the next sullen and sulky. stubborn - everything has to be his way or the highway. but he also has his nice moments. rare, fleeting moments of a softer nature when he thinks nobody is around. this is not to say hes putting on a tough guy act. he really is a tough guy, someone u dont mess with, and he does have a lot of truly evil moments - ones in which he is not sorry for. For example he will happily kill someone without any regret or remorse.

And i dont want a vamp who goes all sappy when he falls in love and competely changes for the girl. no i want a vamp who is capable of falling in love but wont change a thing about himself, the girl either accepts him for who he is or moves on. Like the BDB guys. i love them to death but i still find it a bit too much when they do ANYTHING for their wives/girlfriends no matter what.
