Have your friend try a Valentine Adams or two. Some of it is schlock that the publisher wants done, but there are three or four really good stories, Snow Angel and Saying Grace, both with Eden Chase, and the grossly titled Tie Me Up Again, which he originally called Country Star Missing and a couple of others.
