Does that button actually work or is it just put there to make us feel like we have a say?

message 5: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Lol. I don't know but it make me feel better. I have heard amazon uses it to advise publishers of potential demand.

message 6: by Mike (new)

Mike (mikeo) Regina - I did click for all five of your books. I would like everybody to do the same for me on this one by my favorite author:

Sandy | 12 comments I've click on all the requested ones. I'm really surprised that some of these aren't already on Kindle. I'd also appreciate help with When Darkness Falls by Mercedes Lackey - oddly, the first two books of the trilogy are on kindle, but not the third. Thanks for your help!

Ann (Noumena12) (noumena12) | 34 comments I clicked for you. I always wonder whether it really makes a difference. At least one of these books is available in another electronic format...check inkmesh.com.

I think it does! At least two books I made a point to click on a regular basis have since become available in Kindle format :D

Are you saying that it helps for the same person to click multiple times? So there's not any kind of tracking on that?

I honestly have no idea. I like to think my clicking made a difference :p But it could be coincidence, or other people could have happened to click on them regularly too (but I didn't recruit people to do so, so I really don't know).

I can't believe it either. I looked for it today, and was dismayed to find it was not available for the kindle. So I requested it too :)

message 22: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I clicked on all the ones after my request!!! Thanks for everyone's help!

Michael Mora (frelling_cute) | 8 comments Audrey Neffenegger on e-books:

"I am not opposed to the existence of e-books; I know lots of people are wildly enthusiastic about them. But I have spent my life working with books as an art form and I am devoted to physical books. E-books in their current incarnations are still imperfect and they threaten the arts of book design and typography. As a book conservator I am also nervous about the digitization of books: will they be readable one hundred years from now? Or will thousands of books simply vanish as platforms and programs change?"

That is very thought provoking. Thanks for sharing!

A Voracious Reader (a.k.a. Carol) (avidreader68) I just rec'd a Kindle Fire for Christmas, my first ereader. I have no plans to give up print books. I use my Fire mostly to read indie authors who have asked for a review. Both print and digital can exist side-by-side in my small sphere. Besides, I have something like 12,000 books I've spent a lifetime collecting and I have no intention of stopping now. :)

Just realised how old this post is

message 27: by Veljko (new)

Veljko (_vxf_) It is an old post. Nonetheless, I wonder if some people don't realize that you don't need the book in Kindle format...

Buy it in ANY format, download Calibre (which is free) and convert the book to MOBI.
