Yes, he was. He once said that he did not remember writing Cujo at all. His family did an intervention on him in the 90s. He went sober and clean but in my opinion his writing went downhill after that. Most of his best work was before the family intervention.

I think I'd like to meet Lewis Caroll. Just to see whether the man was indeed sane.

That sounds like fun. A lot of writers actually wrote really well while they were under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Aldous Huxley (Brave New World, Doors of Perception/Heaven and Hell), William S. Burroughs (The Naked Lunch), Jack Kerouac (On the Road), Truman Capote (Breakfast at Tiffany's), F. Scott Fitzgerald (The Great Gatsby), Ernest Hemingway (A Moveable Feast), Ken Kesey (One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest), Edgar Allan Poe (The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket), Will Self (How the Dead Live), Hunter S. Thompson (Hell's Angels). Want me to go on?

Johnny, saya baru baca tentang Beatniks yang dipelopori Kerouac dan rakan-rakannya. Boleh tahan rebelnya. Bukunya jenis Catcher in the Rye saya rasa. Mengangkat zaman dan generasinya.

Saya rasa On the Road ialah buku wajib bagi peminat-peminat Beat dan mereka yang mempunyai taste yang sedikit 'left field' macam saya. Hehehe...

BTW, pada 30 Mac, pukul 2pm, program 'Bookmark' di stesen radio BFM 89.9 mengenai buku 'Catcher in the Rye' akan ke udara. Mereka akan mengulas buku tersebut dan panelis yang di jemput adalah Kam Raslan dan Dina Zaman. Kalau nak ikut, boleh la baca buku tu dan dengar komen mereka. Kalau tak dapat dengar live, podcast show tersebut akan di upload di website BFM dalam 2-3 hari lepas tu. Di program bulan lepas mereka telah mengulas buku 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. Panelis pada ketika itu ialah Amir Muhammad dan Sharon Bakar. Podcast program itu ada di sini.

For your information, faisal tehrani 'hasn't existed' yet at that time. I only knew he was from the same primary school when I took the trouble to find more information about him after reading Tunggu Teduh Dulu. I don't think he knows me but would be very interested to 'berjejak kasih'. Why not?
