April is National Grilled Cheese month. In honor of this unusual day, select a book that has either the word cheese or a type of cheese in the title: blue, cottage, cream, swiss, etc.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1114 comments Haha! This task is awesome! I LOVE cheese!

Here's a list of cheeses from Wikipedia...
Here are the American cheeses and here's a list of the British cheeses, for those of us who will be reading books with English titles...

message 5: by Diane (new)

Diane | 741 comments So is it enough to just have the word "blue" in the title, or does it have to be "blue cheese"?

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 1142 comments Diane wrote: "So is it enough to just have the word "blue" in the title, or does it have to be "blue cheese"?"

Just the word "blue" will work.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 306 comments So would Bluebeard work or does it have to be separate?

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 1142 comments Jamie wrote: "So would Bluebeard work or does it have to be separate?"

It should be separate. (Sorry!)

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 1142 comments Tanja wrote: "The Swiss Family Robinson !!!"

This one keeps popping into my head too! (And yes, it would work.)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments I didn't put two and two until just a minute or so ago. HEE!

message 13: by Sara ♥ (last edited Mar 01, 2010 08:00AM) (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1114 comments I'm thinking All-American Girl (if that "American" is separate enough), The Cat Who Said Cheese, or Gathering Blue...

message 14: by Jayme (new)

Jayme (jaymetheghostreader) | 2835 comments I think I will go with "The Blue Sword". There is a book called "Who Moved My Cheese?" :)

message 15: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1295 comments So then cream, cottage, cheddar (that would be a tough one), goat would work as well?

In other words it doesn't have to be the full name (the cheese part can be dropped)?

message 17: by Sara ♥ (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1114 comments I wish The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales was longer. That book ROCKS!

message 18: by Diane (last edited Mar 01, 2010 06:03PM) (new)

Diane | 741 comments Here's a couple of obscure cheeses I saw on the link:

Dubliner - Dubliners by James Joyce
Brick - Brick Lane: A Novel by Monica Ali
Cup - A Cup of Tea: A Novel of 1917

Also, American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld

Is "Jack" acceptable for Monterey Jack?

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 1142 comments Sara ♥ wrote: "I'm thinking All-American Girl (if that "American" is separate enough), The Cat Who Said Cheese, or Gathering Blue..."

I've thought about this for a bit and I'm going to have to say no to All-American.

Those would all work and yes, the cheese part can be dropped.

Smoked would be acceptable. Here's another one to add to that list:

Secret Confessions of the Applewood PTA: A Novel

(And I love the Nacho's!)

I have to say no to that.

Thanks Rebecca, I happen to own Secret Confessions of the Applewood PTA.

message 25: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments So any variation on Smoked is accepted? Smoke, Smoking?

message 26: by Usako (new)

message 27: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1295 comments I may do Leeway Cottage since it's on my TBR and I own it!

message 28: by Rebecca NJ (new)

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 1142 comments Tanja wrote: "So any variation on Smoked is accepted? Smoke, Smoking?"

I'm trying to avoid variations so let's just stick to Smoked.

message 30: by Diane (new)

Diane | 741 comments My daughter recommends Say Cheese and Die! (she's nine). It is tempting since it's already here in the house...

message 31: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) | 30 comments Here are some options for me, so can I be told which are ideal for this task please:

The White Lioness
The Blue Nowhere
The Red Room
The Double Eagle
The American Boy

message 33: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments The Year of the Goat: 40,000 Miles and the Quest for the Perfect Cheese looks interesting. It's about a couple that decides to milk goats for chesse over a year. HuuuH!

message 34: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments OK! Kindle won out on my choices for this wacky task. Reading the E-Bay Auctions. 11% through and gawking at a few. FUN READ thus far!

message 35: by Bridgit (new)

Bridgit | 505 comments Some other types of cheese that might work:

Acorn
Aragon
Basket
Bath
Beer
Blarney
Bra
Buffalo
Cheshire
Dauphin
Derby
Saga
Schloss
String

All according to the oh so definitive Cheese.com

Sarah (Mood Reader) (bookworm1887) | 458 comments Blue Heaven is another option.

That is one I was trying to fit in. Sadly, though, it is only 94 pages. ARGH!!!! Could I read another book also, so the total is over 100?

Rebecca wrote: "
Secret Confessions of the Applewood PTA: A Novel "
This book cracked me right up! It was recommended to me when I was elected President of the PTA and I thought it was classic.

This may be my favorite task EVER -- I love cheese!

message 39: by Diane (new)

Diane | 741 comments Here's a couple more I found in my TBR pile:

Basket Case by Carl Hiaasen
The Feast of the Goat by Mario Vargas Llosa

message 40: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1295 comments ooooh! I love string cheese! LOL

Rebecca, can you tell us if Bridgit's list is approved?

Thanks!

I'm open for new ideas but I've never heard of tea cheese. Can you clarify this for me?

message 45: by Rebecca NJ (new)

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 1142 comments Bridgit's list is good. Another good site is: askdrcheese

Ashley - yes, you can read more than one book as long as they both meet the requirements.

message 46: by Rebecca NJ (new)

Rebecca NJ (njreader) | 1142 comments I think I'm all caught up with all the questions. If I missed someone, I'll apologize now, just re-post the message and I'll get back to you.

I do want to add that I will check as often as I can to answer your questions but there will be days when I can only check in the morning befure I go to work and later in the evening after dinner and I'm on the east coast.

i'm glad everyone is enjoying this task!

message 47: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1295 comments I am going to read this because I love YA and it could be the antidote to another book I am reading that also has thirteen in the title (in the other book it's 13 reasons why someone committed suicide).

This one should be far more light-hearted!

13 Little Blue Envelopes

Oh oh oh! I own that one, I just don't have it listed on GR! You can't see it, but I'm bowing down in gratitude right now. ;o)
