What do you consider new purchases?

So then it is okay to read things on my TBR that I have on hold at the library, for example?
I just re-read the phrasing of the task. I would take it that if we OWN enough TBR books on our list to make the 850 pages, we must use them.Which is fine since I just started going over my list and have at least 4 and that is just the beginning.
Maybe I will use this task to read more of my Sookie books since I only fit one in so far!
Oh my goodness, thank you! Any task that A.) gets me to read one of the many books I already own, and B.) gives me an opportunity to read a wide variety of books that won't fit into the challenge elsewhere, gets an A+ from me.
Love this task!! I agree Cait. I will be about to read books that I cannot squeeze in and read books I actually own.
I love this task- I have so many books on the tbr pile screaming to be read. Now they can also fit into the Spring challenge!

So if we own a book but haven't read it, we can read it? Even if it's not on our GR TBR list? Just making sure before I pull books off my living room shelves.
I have been meaning to read the last two twilight books so now I can fit them in! It just has to add up to 850, right? It doesn't have to be a book with 850.
Oh, darn it. I just realized that I rated them and marked them as read without having actually finished reading them. Admittedly, I did read half of both of them. Oh well I have plenty of amazing looking books staring at me right now that I haven't read. The looks are so accusing!

This task will be a great way to get through some of the books I have borrowed from my Mom so I can get them back to her and she can send me new ones!
Hey guys, so glad you like the task! If you are anything like me you have a stack (or 10) of books ready to topple over in your house. This task is intended to get those whittled down just a bit.Borrowed books are fine, as are libary books or free e-books. The only books that would not work are ones you buy from midnight tonight on throughout the challenge.

Ok, I just saw 2 questions that I didn't answer-850 is the guide, it does not have to be one book. I don't care of you read 9-100 page books.This isn's about your Goodreads TBR shelf, it's really about books that you have hanging around your house that you just haven't gotten around to reading yet. I gave the library/e-book options to people who may not have a lot of books around at home cluttering up the joint.
I have like 100 books I haven't gotten around to on my shelves and there is a little pile on my living room chair.
I have a question about this as well, I have several ebooks which I've received for review via NetGalley and I know their pages will add up to 850. I received them prior to midnight, therefore, would I be able to count them for this task, even though the official publish date of some of the galleys isn't until April/May. I ask because they are on my review/TBR pile and I can't fit them in any other task.
As long as they were purchased prior to the spring challenge start date/time and would otherwise be sitting in a tbr pile somewhere cluttering up your house they are fine to count for this task.
Or, since they are ebooks cluttering up your ereader or pc. Lol.....

I'll have to relook at the books in my already bought pile. Most are being used for other tasks. Glad the e-book purchases I have sitting on my Kindle count too! There's a couple I haven't read yet.

I've got a question, I have read to books for this that took me to 830 pages, I then started to read herland which is only 120 pages long but I really can't get into it, I have already read 60 pages of the book would it count if I leave it there with the book? It has gone over the pages I needed to read.
