For this task you must read at least 850 pages from your TBR pile. You may not use any new purchases for this task!' (If you don't have enough pages in the books that you own in your TBR pile you may use library books or free ebooks).

Sarah (Mood Reader) (bookworm1887) | 458 comments What do you consider new purchases?

message 3: by Jayme (new)

Jayme (jaymetheghostreader) | 2835 comments I think I can handle that. I have plenty of books from my TBR list.

Nicole | 1295 comments So then it is okay to read things on my TBR that I have on hold at the library, for example?

message 6: by Jayme (new)

Jayme (jaymetheghostreader) | 2835 comments I would think so yes.

message 7: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1295 comments I just re-read the phrasing of the task. I would take it that if we OWN enough TBR books on our list to make the 850 pages, we must use them.

Which is fine since I just started going over my list and have at least 4 and that is just the beginning.

Maybe I will use this task to read more of my Sookie books since I only fit one in so far!

message 8: by Cait (new)

Cait Poytress (caitertot) | 648 comments Oh my goodness, thank you! Any task that A.) gets me to read one of the many books I already own, and B.) gives me an opportunity to read a wide variety of books that won't fit into the challenge elsewhere, gets an A+ from me.

message 9: by Tammy AZ (new)

Tammy AZ (tammyaz) | 1006 comments Great task!!

message 10: by Angela (new)

Angela | 630 comments Love this task!! I agree Cait. I will be about to read books that I cannot squeeze in and read books I actually own.

message 11: by Kim (new)

Kim | 119 comments I love this task- I have so many books on the tbr pile screaming to be read. Now they can also fit into the Spring challenge!

Agreed!

Amy | 52 comments Now if I could just apply this task to my undone household chores...

message 14: by Jayme (new)

Jayme (jaymetheghostreader) | 2835 comments hahahahaha funny, Amy.

message 15: by Megan (new)

Megan Anderson (ms_anderson) | 1464 comments So if we own a book but haven't read it, we can read it? Even if it's not on our GR TBR list? Just making sure before I pull books off my living room shelves.

message 16: by Kate (new)

Kate (kathrynlouwca) | 1002 comments I have been meaning to read the last two twilight books so now I can fit them in! It just has to add up to 850, right? It doesn't have to be a book with 850.

message 17: by Kate (new)

Kate (kathrynlouwca) | 1002 comments Oh, darn it. I just realized that I rated them and marked them as read without having actually finished reading them. Admittedly, I did read half of both of them. Oh well I have plenty of amazing looking books staring at me right now that I haven't read. The looks are so accusing!

message 18: by Jayme (new)

Jayme (jaymetheghostreader) | 2835 comments It does Kathryn. I read the whole series.

message 19: by Bluemoon (new)

Bluemoon (bluemoon286) | 1797 comments 850 pages is no problem. I really like this task. Thanks Leora!!!

message 20: by Kim D (new)

Kim D (kdimattia) | 195 comments I like it too Leora! I'm going to wait until all the tasks are posted and whatever books I have that don't fit those I can use for your task!

message 21: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Hodges Young | 306 comments This task will be a great way to get through some of the books I have borrowed from my Mom so I can get them back to her and she can send me new ones!

message 22: by Leora (new)

Leora | 209 comments Hey guys, so glad you like the task! If you are anything like me you have a stack (or 10) of books ready to topple over in your house. This task is intended to get those whittled down just a bit.

Borrowed books are fine, as are libary books or free e-books. The only books that would not work are ones you buy from midnight tonight on throughout the challenge.

Thanks for the good feedback! Happy Spring cleaning!

message 23: by Leora (new)

Leora | 209 comments Ok, I just saw 2 questions that I didn't answer-850 is the guide, it does not have to be one book. I don't care of you read 9-100 page books.

This isn's about your Goodreads TBR shelf, it's really about books that you have hanging around your house that you just haven't gotten around to reading yet. I gave the library/e-book options to people who may not have a lot of books around at home cluttering up the joint.

message 24: by Jayme (new)

Jayme (jaymetheghostreader) | 2835 comments I have like 100 books I haven't gotten around to on my shelves and there is a little pile on my living room chair.

message 25: by April (new)

April (booksandwine) | 65 comments I have a question about this as well, I have several ebooks which I've received for review via NetGalley and I know their pages will add up to 850. I received them prior to midnight, therefore, would I be able to count them for this task, even though the official publish date of some of the galleys isn't until April/May. I ask because they are on my review/TBR pile and I can't fit them in any other task.

message 26: by Leora (new)

Leora | 209 comments As long as they were purchased prior to the spring challenge start date/time and would otherwise be sitting in a tbr pile somewhere cluttering up your house they are fine to count for this task.

message 27: by Leora (new)

Leora | 209 comments Or, since they are ebooks cluttering up your ereader or pc. Lol.....

message 28: by April (new)

April (booksandwine) | 65 comments Alright, omg your task is a lifesaver. I was panicking over where I would put certain things, but this is perfect. Thanks so much!!

I'm interpreting that as meaning that if I have books sitting around the house waiting for me to read them, but I haven't actually gotten around to adding them to my GR TBR, those would be okay...

message 30: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments I'll have to relook at the books in my already bought pile. Most are being used for other tasks.

Glad the e-book purchases I have sitting on my Kindle count too! There's a couple I haven't read yet.

message 31: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) | 8 comments Not a problem considering I have over 600 books I wanna read lol.

Just wanna ask if we have bought books before this challenge started, are we allowed to read them?

message 32: by Leora (new)

Leora | 209 comments Fiona-yes, as long as they are already purchased they are fine.

Tanja-kindle books count too!

Sara-you've got it exactly right!

We are Spring cleaning our tbr piles!

message 33: by Jayme (new)

Jayme (jaymetheghostreader) | 2835 comments but my TBR piles just keeps getting bigger, you know kinda like my waistline :)

message 34: by Pollyanna (new)

Pollyanna (polly8) | 109 comments I've got a question, I have read to books for this that took me to 830 pages, I then started to read herland which is only 120 pages long but I really can't get into it, I have already read 60 pages of the book would it count if I leave it there with the book? It has gone over the pages I needed to read.
