Heather I can see why, Amal! It is very touching.

Hotavio | 11 comments Sad because you wonder how likely it is that he would be able to find her. And if he ever did, would she be the mother that is iconized in the statue? How could this mother "lose" her children? There are so many possible scenarios.

A. (almas) | 232 comments Is it possible that this statue actually exists somewhere?

Is there a way to tell from this painting?

message 5: by Hotavio (new)

Hotavio | 11 comments It might exist. The artist seems to have drawn it from observation. The sheen of the bronze is very realistic. I would think that the best way to find out would be to read artist commentary on the work. I am not familiar with this artist, but I am sure they have written a thing or two about their motivation behind it.

A. (almas) | 232 comments I went back and checked his site. There is nothing other than oil & the size of the painting.

I like how he presents three different elements; the bronze of the statue, the human skin, and the translucency of an angel.
