Marci (marci__) | 46 comments All I can remember was that the book was about a girl having a dream about being on the Erie Canal when it was brand spanking new, her and her family taking a trip on it by steamboat. I remember she falls asleep at one point in the dream, and thinking "Um, isn't it a little odd she's falling asleep while she's asleep?" Unfortunately, I don't remember anything more than that.

The Erie Canal by Peter Spier?

Was it set far in the past, or in the present (with the girl having a history dream)? Any idea when the book was published?
