I've only read the first four books in Cornwell's Scarpetta series, and I cannot picture Angelina Jolie as Kay Scarpetta.

I told DH this and he had the reaction Dan mentioned, "And there's a problem with that, why???" My opinion, OTOH, is "WTF??" To be honest I always pictured Kay as looking like Cornwell herself. Hopefully the movie will be based on one of the early books. They were truly great reads.

I must concur - good grief.
This simply confirms two of my opinions. 1. Casting directors only want to sell tickets to the movie and 2. the ego of the character, Kay Scarpetta (and author) is immense.

I think I now picture her as Katherine Heigl although, when I was reading that series, I had never heard of Heigl before....but I just heard she has been tapped to play Stepanie Plum from the Evanovich series.

I have to agree with the Ladies on this one - as I read the stories and had a picture of Kay Scarpetta in my mind - I must say that image was not Angela Jolie...

Oh well, I find that generally disappointed when my favorite book characters are cast by Hollywood.

I guess it is not about capturing the character that the Author has taken the time to present to the "reader", but merely money and ticket sales once Hollywood gets involved...
