Melissa (mliss024) | 12 comments So I just came across the official website of James Dashner's book The Maze Runner (a really fantastic teen book, if anyone's interested in reading something totally different, Hunger Games style)

Anyway, they made one of those clips to help you better understand the book. Is it just me, or did they make it look like a horror novel? If you've read the book you'll know it's not nearly as terrifying as this trailer!

Oh and if you're interested, James Dashner actually keeps up this blog for his books:

Maybe it's supposed to be like Scary Mary Poppings.

not that this is at all relevant to books whatsoever, but this is my favourite recut trailer of all time.

OH MY GOD it's a romantic comedy!!!! Ahhhh ha ha haa haaaa. SO perfectly done. I died at the line "But sometimes what you need..." Shows how cliched most trailers are, but also shows the importance of soundtracks in movies!

Reminds me of the original Star Wars trailer, before the John Williams soundtrack was added. It comes off as a Depressing 70s Film, instead of a heroic action adventure.

But on the original topic -- I sold my friend's kid (who doesn't read a lot) on Hunger Games. He LURVED it and immediately read the sequel. What do I recommend next? Would Maze Runner be good?

Melissa (mliss024) | 12 comments OMG That Shining video....that's amazing! I've seen that original so many times that I wasn't sure how they would make that work, but hahaha I'm so impressed. I agree with Terri though, the music is such a huge part of a movie!

And, Terri... yes! If he wants something kind of similar to Hunger Games I'd say recommend it to him. It was such a fantastic book!

By the way, once Spring Break is over, I vote we start planning for a big Hunger Games event. Every day there's a new bookseller, or a new customer lurving this book--we need to make a BIG DEAL about the new release. Imagine the macabre fun we can have with the topic!

And remind me to contact the publisher, maybe we can get more than one advanced reading copy, and maybe even some event stuff? Hee hee heeee.

Katrina Patry | 13 comments I have PLENTY of ideas. I was thinking pre-order contest amongst the staff. We could split the teams into Districts. So District 1- 13. We could have events like the Tribute Training, so camouflage, knot making etc.

Plus I really want to dress up in a pink wig. :P
