Susan (Suz) (sharney) Mmmm Eric!!!

message 4: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 373 comments I started reading these after true blood series 1 started, loved the series but I am finding reading these very hard in deed, don't know why as the books tick all my boxes.

message 5: by Shmaybra (new)

Shmaybra | 4 comments I've read all of these books except the last three because everyone raved about the series and I have to say I got very bored. Why is it taking so long for Sookie and Eric's relationship to develop further?!?!? And in From Dead to Worse after every thought Sookie has about Eric she had to add "because of the blood bond" I'm getting really annoyed!! So knowing how I feel should I continue spending my money on these books or just quit until I've read every other series out there?

message 6: by Mariya (new)

Mariya (cr6zym0nkeyiz) i still gotta read dis one too. ive been meaning to read it, but it'll probally be up in my TBR shelf for a while. does anyone knoe how many books there will be?

message 7: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 373 comments I'm now in the 11th Chapter and getting frustrated at finding reading these a chore, I have them all so will probably have a break and read something else then go back to them. the first BDB is next on my list and already on my reader ready (is tempting to sneak a peak now)

message 8: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (danig0526) | 20 comments I love this series!! I bought all the books and they are great!! Can't wait for the 10th book to come out!! I will have to say that Eric is a babe and love him to pieces but him and Sookie are right for each other and it does take some time for them to create a really bond!! I think this series was fast pace and I read the books so quick I was able to reread them again when from Dead and Gone came out!! Give it a chance if you haven't read them!!

The TV Series is really different from the books but I would read the books first and then watch the series!!

Kim (kk_1969) | 4 comments Eric is yummy....I love these books!!!

message 10: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 373 comments Well I have finally finished the first one, hate to say it but it seamed a rushed ending to me and I found it hard to et there. I have them all but am switching to BDB for a bit.

I think I read somewhere that there will be at least 12 books. Anyone know more?

message 16: by Shannon (new)

Shannon C. Great mix of mystery, action, suspense and romance. I love the Sookie series...couldn't put them down.

Has anyone tried Harris' Harper Connelly series? It's not at all like Sookie. I'm almost finished with book three. I didn't care for the first book as much--mainly because I thought the heroine was one of those 'too stupid to live' type gals. But book two was much better--a good read. And book three was great--on par with the better Sookie books. If you haven't read the series and want to give it a try, you can easily skip book one and start with book two. Two gives you background so you wouldn't be lost. I'm loving book three!!!

Angela (angbens) | 89 comments Love this series. I am glad I read them when season 1 was just starting, so I didn't compare them as I read. Now, when I watch the show, I just have to look at the books and the show as two different entities.

message 18: by Bookworms (new)

Bookworms | 43 comments I read all books now from this series and watched the first season of True Blood. OMG, I'm so addicted to this series. The books are amazing.
And I hope the next book will be published soon.

I agree with you, Angela. Because in the books I love Eric and at the TV series I love Bill *lol*

message 20: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (kathygroomer) | 54 comments i read all the books but the last one and i loved them i think sookie and eric make a great couple , but really want to read last one but dont want to buy the hardcover lol so thinking of going to library

message 21: by Angela (new)

Angela (angbens) | 89 comments @ Bookworms; Also, the show and the books are SOOOOO different. They are incorporating things in the show, that do not come until like the 7th and 8th+ books. So, really they need to be viewed as seperate entities. I like Eric in the books better, but not a fan of Bill. The thing is after this particular book in the series, Bill isn't around much.

message 22: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (kathygroomer) | 54 comments ididnt like the show true blood , it was much more fifthy talking and sookie just didnt seem like the girl i had in my mind, but i only watch one show lol

message 23: by Jessica B (new)

Jessica B | 27 comments I read the first nine books after watching True Blood season one. I absolutely loved the books and the Sookie books are in my all time favourite reads. I loved them so much that I even named my new kitty Sookie!

I also read and enjoyed the Harper Connelly series by Charlaine Harris!

message 24: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Rogers | 12 comments I love the Sookie Stackhouse novels, but lets be honest I think the books are coming to an end! The last book Dead in the Family was just readable, the story line was thin and the book felt empty. I am a big Eric fan so this book was disappointing, the book was about a cooling done period for Sookie but it was also a great time to end the series. As for the tv series the first was good and the second was awful. However the third season is excellant and I love all the characters, especially Franklin and Russell, Russell is brilliant, fantastic actor choices. I think there will be a fourth season but I can't see anymore after that. As I said before I am a big Eric fan so seeing him get his Sookie and the gentle side of him will be great as will seeing werewolf witches high on V!

message 25: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (animallover07) The last book was very disappointing i liked Eric and sookie and they hardly had them together.:(

message 26: by Suz (new)

Suz Charlaine has said in recent interviews that she's closing the series up soon. She wants to do other things.

message 27: by Jen (new)

Jen (jlmonty4) | 6 comments I really like this series, but I think I'm the only one who likes Bill??? The last book was disapponting.I hope Dead Reckoning is better.I'm anxious to see how she ends the series.I think there are 2 or 3 books left??

message 28: by Suz (new)

Suz Dead Reckoning (out this May) and probably one more, then it'll be over. Unless something major happens.

M. (mikasambale) | 11 comments Yeah, the last book wasn't great. It was kind of boring actually. I don't hate Bill, but he pales when compared to Eric. I didn't care for the weretiger either. I liked Alcide better. My picks would be first Eric, then Alcide, then Bill.

message 30: by Suz (new)

Suz I agree with Michelle for choices. But the truth is that she dragged the triangle out too long for me and I became apathetic. I do hate Bill and I think she sort of catered to the Bill lovers when she let him redeem himself in Book 9 Dead and Gone. I probably would have stopped reading all together if she'd had Sookie let him back in her life again.

Charlaine got tired of the series, and after spending a few days on her website trying to interact with a lot of her squeeing fans I can't say that I blame her. The last two books progressively show how tired she is off it. Time to wrap it up.

I honestly think this is a case of the fans killing the subject. They made it too much trouble for her.

yea i agree i did not like the were tiger the story line was weak.. eric and sookie need more scenes together..

message 32: by Kelli (new)

Kelli Barrett Does it bother anyone else that Sookie, a curvy girl in size 8-10, is played by Anna Paquin?

message 33: by Pam (new)

Pam | 2 comments I read the series before the tv show. I liked Quinn the weretiger, but Eric is delicious in the books. I agree the last book seemed tired, but I still look forward to the new one.

message 34: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (tinkykat) I def think it makes a difference in how you view the books if you read the books before watching the show. I try to think of them both as separate things.

I re-read the series before the show started. I found them a bit simpler the 2nd time around but still really enjoyable. I do think the last book was a bit rushed tho.
I'm sad to hear she's ending them but hopefully knowing that will tie up all the loose ends!

Ashley (ashniss) Kelli wrote: "Does it bother anyone else that Sookie, a curvy girl in size 8-10, is played by Anna Paquin?"

Anna is still curvy, she is just thin. I think she is perfect for the role. I only read the first 2 books, but she seems to mirror the personality given in the book, and bring more to the table too. I personally like the show better than the books.

I think Anna is good as Sookie because she is a terrific actress. However, she has nothing in common with Sookie from the books physically. Anna is not curvy, she is petite. I also don't think she is pretty enough. But you have to see the TV show and the books as two separate things. I like them both.

message 37: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashniss) I meant curvy as in she has boobs and a butt, yes she is thin, but she has that curviness to her. I think she is pretty enough. I dont think the books describe her as some bangin girl.

message 38: by Kelli (new)

Kelli Barrett Well, to get so much attention from a guy like Eric, not to mention like every other guy in town, I get the impression she's supposed to be a "bangin girl". And Anna is not pretty or curvy enough. But I like her anyway.

message 39: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashniss) See I dont think any of the guys on true Blood are cute or hot at all. Jason and Godric are the only ones I think are attractive. Eric is suppose to be, but I dont think he is and Bill is def not.

see I don't think Anna is all that spectacular as an actress tbh...I don't think she is very pretty or curvy...she is so not Sookie I'm sorry but I don't think she is.....but I do agree with you that the tv show and the books need to be seen as two different entities, instead of comparing and contrasting the two...because Alana Ball has made them two different entities, though I have heard there is more from the books coming in the next season but we shall se.

OMG! DITF was soooo boring it was so monochrome, there was no big Climax, it was pretty anit-cliimatic in my opinion, I just finished reading it because I knew another book would be coming out....but it usually takes m oh about 8 hours to read a book give or take a few depending on books size....it took me 2 weeks to read this book.

I prefer Bill to Eric, in both the books and the show.

I originally started watching the show before I realised it based on the books. But when I started reading the books I got hooked on them, quicker than the TV show to be honest. The first series is much truer to the book than the rest.

Being very fussy but the one thing that bugged me about Dead Reckoning was the covers (here in the UK at least) were bright yellow... looks so outta place compared to the rest of the series on my shelf!!

message 43: by Katie (new)

Katie (skateanddonate) | 19 comments Not sure what I think about the series. The last few books have been horrible with no plot.

I started watching the show and about halfway through the first season I got the books. I hated the first book. The use of "I" ten times in two paragraphs didn't impress me on the writing skill of the author.

However, I must admit I liked the books more than the show, once I had read them. After the second season I stopped recording it and only catch random episodes here and there.

I loved two of the books. Dead to the World and All Together Dead. Needless to say I prefer Eric in both books and the show.

Vikki, I think they have brought the books out in new covers - that go with the yellow of Dead Reckoning. They had a display of them in Waterstones yesterday - all strong colours.

I wasn't keen on the TV show covers - especially as some of them had characters on the front that didn't even appear in the book!

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2569 comments I'm not a fan of the TV show covers either. Then again I'm not a fan of the original art either.

message 46: by Vikki (new)

Vikki (silverstarz) most of mine have these covers....

Living Dead in Dallas (Sookie Stackhouse, #2) by Charlaine Harris Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, #3) by Charlaine Harris etc

I prefer those ones

Samantha (Book Lover's Cozy Cafe) (sparklyblueyes) | 679 comments yeah those ones are nice, I have the originals they're silly

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2569 comments I do like those ones much better.
