The TV Series is really different from the books but I would read the books first and then watch the series!!

I switched to BDB after book 5!!

Me too Lauren!

I think I read somewhere that there will be at least 12 books. Anyone know more?

Has anyone tried Harris' Harper Connelly series? It's not at all like Sookie. I'm almost finished with book three. I didn't care for the first book as much--mainly because I thought the heroine was one of those 'too stupid to live' type gals. But book two was much better--a good read. And book three was great--on par with the better Sookie books. If you haven't read the series and want to give it a try, you can easily skip book one and start with book two. Two gives you background so you wouldn't be lost. I'm loving book three!!!

And I hope the next book will be published soon.

I agree with you, Angela. Because in the books I love Eric and at the TV series I love Bill *lol*

I also read and enjoyed the Harper Connelly series by Charlaine Harris!

LA times interview with Charlaine:

Charlaine got tired of the series, and after spending a few days on her website trying to interact with a lot of her squeeing fans I can't say that I blame her. The last two books progressively show how tired she is off it. Time to wrap it up.
I honestly think this is a case of the fans killing the subject. They made it too much trouble for her.

yea i agree i did not like the were tiger the story line was weak.. eric and sookie need more scenes together..

I re-read the series before the show started. I found them a bit simpler the 2nd time around but still really enjoyable. I do think the last book was a bit rushed tho.
I'm sad to hear she's ending them but hopefully knowing that will tie up all the loose ends!

Anna is still curvy, she is just thin. I think she is perfect for the role. I only read the first 2 books, but she seems to mirror the personality given in the book, and bring more to the table too. I personally like the show better than the books.

I think Anna is good as Sookie because she is a terrific actress. However, she has nothing in common with Sookie from the books physically. Anna is not curvy, she is petite. I also don't think she is pretty enough. But you have to see the TV show and the books as two separate things. I like them both.

see I don't think Anna is all that spectacular as an actress tbh...I don't think she is very pretty or curvy...she is so not Sookie I'm sorry but I don't think she is.....but I do agree with you that the tv show and the books need to be seen as two different entities, instead of comparing and contrasting the two...because Alana Ball has made them two different entities, though I have heard there is more from the books coming in the next season but we shall se.

OMG! DITF was soooo boring it was so monochrome, there was no big Climax, it was pretty anit-cliimatic in my opinion, I just finished reading it because I knew another book would be coming out....but it usually takes m oh about 8 hours to read a book give or take a few depending on books size....it took me 2 weeks to read this book.

I prefer Bill to Eric, in both the books and the show.
I originally started watching the show before I realised it based on the books. But when I started reading the books I got hooked on them, quicker than the TV show to be honest. The first series is much truer to the book than the rest.
Being very fussy but the one thing that bugged me about Dead Reckoning was the covers (here in the UK at least) were bright yellow... looks so outta place compared to the rest of the series on my shelf!!

I started watching the show and about halfway through the first season I got the books. I hated the first book. The use of "I" ten times in two paragraphs didn't impress me on the writing skill of the author.
However, I must admit I liked the books more than the show, once I had read them. After the second season I stopped recording it and only catch random episodes here and there.
I loved two of the books. Dead to the World and All Together Dead. Needless to say I prefer Eric in both books and the show.

Vikki, I think they have brought the books out in new covers - that go with the yellow of Dead Reckoning. They had a display of them in Waterstones yesterday - all strong colours.
I wasn't keen on the TV show covers - especially as some of them had characters on the front that didn't even appear in the book!

I Have the covers from comment 46, but love the original cartoon ones better :)
