I have only recently started reading these on the strength of some very good recommendations from my Goodreads friends!

I love all the Brothers, I can not pick a favourite!!!!

Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2) by J.R. Ward Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) by J.R. Ward Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4) by J.R. Ward Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #5) by J.R. Ward Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6) by J.R. Ward Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #7) by J.R. Ward Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #8) by J.R. Ward The Black Dagger Brotherhood An Insider's Guide by J.R. Ward

Regina (reginar) I love this series. I do have my favorites, but up until Phury's books I loved them all (I just couldn't get in to that book). Can't wait for the next one to be released on April!

I didn't think he would but Zsadist has really grown on me as a character!!!

Book Huntress (bookhuntress) | 30 comments Yeah the only book I wasn't thrilled with was Phury, I just cant get behind him - he just irritates me. I want to feel bad for him with the addiction and all but sometimes I just want to slap him!!!!

As for the others - mmmmmmmmmm yummy!!!!!

Kimberley (Trillianne) | 373 comments Hey there, well I must be one of the few that hasn't read these yet but they are definately next on my list (as soon as I can find a copy in the UK, any format will do but as hubby is trying to curb my physical book collection am trying for it in e-book format, anyone know where)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) Love Love Love the brothers! It is hard to pick a fave, but I would have to pick V & Butch!! And I think I am one of the very few people who really enjoyed Phury's book and that has Z at the bottom of my fav list *duck's head*

I managed to pick up the first six books for £2.50 each in one of those discount stationery type shops that have a huge stack of paperbacks. Was on my way to Waterstones to get the first book...... I know that type of shop is really hit and miss though. Not sure about ebooks, I've seen book seven on Amazon but not the rest.

Believe me Lisa you'll be happy when you do start them - the Brothers just make you fall in love with all of them!! My favourite Brother? ALL of them *grins*

message 11: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Hehe! Now to check out if my local library has them - I take it by the way that you've been racing through them that I might end up doing the series in one big run and don't think my bank balance or book shelves could take that right now!

Book Huntress (bookhuntress) | 30 comments yeah make sure you at least have the next one as you go through them!! Can't wait til Lover Mine...

message 13: by Bookworms (new)

Bookworms | 43 comments Well, I love the first 3 books, especially the story around Zsadist and Wrath. But I was a little bit disappointed about Butchs and Vishous' story. At the moment I read Phurys story and sometimes it's a little bit boring.
A great series but some weaking in my opinion.

Book Huntress (bookhuntress) | 30 comments Phury's story was definitely slowish, he's not my fav brother anyways so that didn't help...

I did like Butch's story, although I did have some high expectations going in so I don't love it as much as others but I do like it and I don't know why but I love V...

GinBee (jennymbee) | 4446 comments Mod
I am so looking forward to V's story, I'm about to start Lover Unbound. Through out the books there has just been something about V........... I hope it lives up to my expectations!!

message 16: by Mrs. (new)

Mrs. Badass (mrsbadass) | 28 comments I've read to current, and while I enjoy the brothers, I find myself totally turned off by the idiotic lessers. I sort of am intrigued by the newer direction JRW is taking, but still, I find myself just skipping those parts. I also find myself irritated at all the differing story lines and felt in the last book (Lover Avenged) We barely got to see Rhev and Elehna, and had more Wrath/Beth, JM/Xhex, etc. etc. It's one of the things that bothers me about a lot of authors.

Kimberley (Trillianne) | 373 comments Yay me, I have found a site that I can get the whole collection from in eBook form so hubby has got them me, can't wait for them to arrive, bonus is it comes as a vamp collection so also includes lots of the others on our shelves, I won't have to buy any for a while I think.
Can't wait now as I really want to get started on these.

Kimberley, I'm looking into getting a reader and using eBooks mind if I ask what site you found them on? Maybe I can have eBook and paerback versions of BDB - is that too much??

message 19: by Kimberley (new) - added it

Kimberley (Trillianne) | 373 comments I think it is perfect (and I can increase my collection without hubby shouting at me), I found these from an eBay shop, they send them as files on a DVD and as they specialise in this type of selling they have the rights to export where as Barnes and Noble don't.
I don't think having books in paper form and e book form is too much, some books need to be in physical form to be truely appreciated.

message 20: by Angela (new)

I'm reading Lover Enshirned and I'm not sure why it seems to be the less liked book in the series. I am enjoying it very much, especially the side stories for some reason. The way John's story is panning out has me really wanting to read his book! Not long now!

message 28: by Regina (last edited Mar 12, 2010 01:16PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Regina (reginar) I just strongly disliked Phury (sorry!) and I was bored/annoyed with his story. I did not see the connection between Cormia and Phury, I did not see them fall in love. I disliked the way she was treated. It was all bleh for me. What is interesting is some people really responded and liked this side of the story -- it seems to be hot and cold. :) I found myself only reading LE to get to the side stories. I loved the side stories (of course not the Lesser parts).

GinBee (jennymbee) | 4446 comments Mod
Got to say the Wizard annoys me! But that might be the point? I know what you mean about the way Cormia is treated, it's just not like the others treat their mates!! Phury seems very cold towards her for most of the book. Even with all that said I am still enjoying the book, sometimes I'll enjoy a book even if there are parts I dislike (maybe that makes me strange?!?), I find I get caught up in the world of the book and if it can do that I'll like it whatever. I think the BDB world makes up for any dislike I may have of some parts of the story. I liked the way the Qhuinn story twisted, not what you would expect when we are first introduced to him!

Regina (reginar) I really like the dynamic between Quinn, Blay and JM. I look forward to their books.

message 31: by Angela (new)

Angela does anyone know if there are any shorts/novella's for BDB ... I did some searching online and found nothing but I've found that when it comes to shorts that doesn't always mean anything

Prior to LAv, LEn what was my favorite of the series, so you're not alone in your enjoyment of it Jen. I loved the world building and side stories in it - the boys were fantastic!

Definitely! Other than
The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide, there are also a number on Ward's site at http://www.jrward.com/bdb/index-slice.... Enjoy!

Jenny | 42 comments I love this series. I didn't really like Phury's book too much, but the others were great; especially the first three. You gotta love Rhage and V haha. And I'm really excited for Lover Mine with John Matthew and Xhex.

Good idea! I had to save mine for reading alone :) Mind you some of the scenes are best not read in public anyway!!

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 49 comments Ha! I made the mistake of rereading V's book at work one day while waiting for some code to compile. I'm sure my face had quite a flush when I read over the infamous bathroom scene.

Kimberley (Trillianne) | 373 comments What page is that?????? Lol.

My colleagues are used to me reading all sorts and some of them are just as bad (if not worse with the old adult lit).

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 49 comments Ha! You'll know it when you get to it. ;) It's my favorite sexy scene of the series, closely followed by a considerably more innocent but no less hot scene in Phury's book (but not with Phury).

Enjoy the books though - it's my favorite PNR series.

Not one I'd want to read at work :) I don't blush when I read stuff like that at home but I'm sure I would have been a beacon if I'd read V's bathroom scene in public!!!

Kimberley, you will know when you get to it........ Not in Dark Lover, you will have to wait for V's book!!

Danielle The Book Huntress (Back to the Books) (gatadelafuente) I love this series. LEn is actually one of my faves. I liked Phury and Cormia as a couple. But I can see why it didn't work for others. I admit I'm least fond of Ehlena. I think Rehv needed a better shellan. JMO.

~Kate~ (katesbooklife) i love this series although i have only read the first 4 i will be going back to the series next me thinks as its V's story and he is one of my favourite brothers. not long now till the new one comes out so i need to do some catching up

Mariya (cr6zym0nkeyiz) okaiexz..i finally started reading today. im not too far in but its pretty good so far.

Gokce ~Muslin Myst~ | 98 comments I love this series. Comepletely hooked and now eagerly waiting for the new one to come out. I hear people say it's addictive, so true! :)

Regina (reginar) For those just starting, the first book is one of the weaker books IMO, so don't give up after the first book. Also, I personally just skip the lesser parts (a goodreads friend gave me this advice) -- and that makes the books better IMO. Hate those lesser parts. I wouldn't say skip -- I skim to see if anything is important -- usually there is not.

Danielle I completely agree with you. I would want more for Rehv.

Gokce ~Muslin Myst~ | 98 comments I actually really liked Ehlena. I thought they were a good match, her and Rehv. I loved Phury's book as well, a lot of people didn't but I thought his problems and transformation as a character was nicely done. Besides, I really like the twins.

i started reading dark lover and i love it. i agree there r some parts that i wanna skip over, but the others will be good too. if i skip over those parts i wont miss anything, right??

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey i Marisa

Regina (reginar) The lesser parts, nah you won't miss anything. I think the first time the lesser parts matter are at the end of Dark Lover -- so skim. And then at the end of Lover Eternal and some parts in Bella and Z's book. If you skim quickly you can tell if they mention Bella, Wrath -- and if they don't, just skip. :) The lesser parts are so useless b/c they actually do not contribute to the story. In the last two books she has improved the lesser parts, but I still skim.

So short version, nothing important in the lesser parts in Dark Lover until very end. Love Wrath and Beth's story!
